This fall, fans will have expanded options with their food, their seats and even with their washrooms.
It has been a busy off-season at Canucks headquarters. While the on-ice team trains, the off-ice team led by the Aquilini family’s vision has invested roughly $10 million into the facilities and hospitality program to elevate the overall fan experience.
The Canucks at Rogers Arena launched their own food and beverage program on July 1 and are drafting their own hand-picked chefs, bartenders and service staff. With everyone under one roof working towards one common goal, Canucks COO Victor de Bonis says “our fans and our season ticket members are going to see a difference in the energy, the service, just the vibe in the arena.” With the goal of providing better quality and faster service, the Canucks have hired their own team of all-stars, highlighted by award winning chef Robert Bartley and renowned bartender Jay Jones who is looking to expand the beverage menu, including a wider selection of beers.
With the new season comes an innovative and fresh way to experience the game. The exclusive Loge Club, opening in the fall, is a cross between a private suite and the current open-style clubs; fans are able to book a private six-seat viewing box to watch the game, which also includes a private table in a premium club setting (compared to a private suite that requires 14 tickets or a club setting which is fully open.)
Season tickets are more accessible this year and for the fans in the stands, the Canucks have invested in making sure everyone has a reason to keep cheering. With the addition of a new tower, the concourse levels have been expanded on the west corner, staff and technology have been added to reduce wait times to grab a bite and a drink between periods and there are 34 per cent more washrooms.
Having Trevor Linden come on-board has helped to spark renewed enthusiasm with the experience of the home games, and de Bonis recognizes the impact Linden has made in this regard. “He’s been so great with supporting all these initiatives and being involved with the employees, so it’s just infectious, that energy and excitement which he brings so, we’re looking forward to getting going here and starting the year.”
