It was originally conceived as Law & Order set in a hospital. But House proved to be something entirely different. Thanks to the casting of Hugh Laurie as the brilliant but deeply flawed Dr. Gregory House, viewers were quickly fascinated by the grumpy, pill-popping curmudgeon.
