Kid Carson will return to radio this fall, but how has he spent his summer?
Where's Kid Carson been hiding during the hot season? The popular DJ shares what he's been up to while off-air and teases about his return to radio this fall
When Kid Carson mysteriously vanished from the airwaves in late April, fans had a right to be confused; Vancouver's top morning host had disappeared into thin air, with nary an explanation from Carson or his former employer, The Beat 94.5.
In fact, the city's number one music station did its best to erase Carson from the station's history, refusing to comment on his absence and immediately replacing him with a revamped morning show lineup.
Since then, Carson has kept a low profile; the only hint of his whereabouts a cryptic Twitter avatar of cartoon alien and the caption, “We’ll return Kid Carson . . . eventually.”
Finally, Carson has revealed he'll return to morning radio this September with an all-new station and team. We caught up with Kid to find out just what he's been doing with his time off, and to get a few more hints about his return to radio this fall.
5 Things Kid Carson Did this Summer
- "I spent a month in Eastern Europe. Prague, Budapest, Bosnia and Croatia. It was amazing to see a way of life where people are confident enough to love each other, rather then just 'out do' each other. I'm pretty sure we saw Jay-Z waving from Beyonce's yacht near the Island of Hvar in Croatia. Most beautiful place I've been to."
- "I started running the seawall. For me, the perk of running by the ocean makes Vancouver impossible to leave."
- "I took an allergy test and discovered I'm allergic to beer! Are you kidding me???"
- "I quit my job! I finally grasped the idea that our happiness is our own responsibility, no one else's. Sometimes you have to give up a steady gig to find a place where you can shine!"
- "I met my new radio family. As I ramp up for a new show in September, I'll be working with a new team. You become very close with people that you 'talk' to for six hours a day. Hiring that team was an interesting process. I mean, it's like choosing family right? I hope I chose well . . . or the joke's on me!"
Kid Carson Reveals All in TVW
To learn exactly where Kid Carson plans to set up shop this fall, and for all the details about his exit from The Beat, check out the latest issue of TVW Magazine, on sale Friday, August 24.
Hey Kid we're so glad we have found you. I am sure you don't remember but i won a visit back to the booth and brought my 8 year old daughter; she made you rice crispie squares with mars bars and gummies in them and loves to dance. I am the event organizer of a fundraiser for her dance studio owner who has cancer, please read the following letter for more info:
Dear____:
I am writing to you today in conjunction with a fundraiser for Chelsea Steyns, a 35 year old, North Vancouver mother of two sets of twins, who has been diagnosed with an inoperable, rare form of brain cancer. In order to help with her current and potential future medical expenses, we are holding an Evening for Chelsea on Saturday, September 29. We are asking for support from local merchants in the form of donations for our silent auction. You may already be familiar with Chelsea’s story, which was featured both on Global News and the front page of the Province Newspaper, the week of June 20th. To recap, Chelsea’s cancer, a PMA, is so rare that the B.C. Cancer clinic has never treated it before. Furthermore, there have only been 4 previous cases in Canada (none of them in adults) and only a handful of adult cases worldwide. To compound the situation, Chelsea’s tumor is located in her brain stem where all of the nerves of her spinal column enter her brain. Chelsea has just finished an aggressive round of radiation treatments that her doctors hope will slow the growth of her cancer. In addition to her conventional treatments, Chelsea is pursuing an intense and expensive regime of alternative medical therapies. These include an arsenal of daily vitamins and supplements, a purely organic, and high alkaline diet as well as a two-week stay in a Holistic Healing Clinic. Furthermore, her doctors have not ruled out the possibility of her seeking medical help outside of Canada if they can find a facility that is more familiar with and better able to deal with her particular cancer. We are hoping to get approximately 50 items for the silent auction as well as cash donations to purchase a few “big ticket” items for live auction. All businesses will be recognized on a donor board at the event and by the auction MC. You may also include extra business cards or brochures to be placed on the auction table. If you would like further information about this event or how your business can help, please feel free to contact me at: HYPERLINK "mailto:loriroberts2444@gmail.com" loriroberts2444@gmail.com or 604-986-2444. I thank you in advance for your support. Sincerely, Lori Roberts, B. ECCE, auction coordinator.
We (Lora and I) are hoping you might have some contacts for tickets or other good auction prizes. As well, if you might be available to MC the live auction part for about 30 min at 8:30 ish. You did this about 5 years ago for our friends Rob and Jill Parrott who's daughter aso had brain cancer (she is now in grade 9 and still cancer-free!) I'm not asking much am I? Well the saying is, "Ask nothing get nothing".
We all miss hearing you on the beat but hope you are super happy with your new job. You were born to be a DJ. Thanks for considering our request(s), I know you get tonnes of these. Hopefully this one will reach out to you. I can also bake a few batches of rice crispie squares or brownies for you too.
Sincerely, Lori Roberts (dance studio parent and auction coordinaor
I will donate a gift.

"our happiness is our own responsibility" - Kid Carson brought his formwe work environment a lot of happiness when he left. I know a few of them and it's a completely different atmosphere with him gone. Proof he's a huge douchebag.
i have to agree, that I diddnt like his show at all.I was glad went he left.he anounced something, and then you had to wait another half an hour till he talk about that and that pregnancycomment ,when his collegue was pregnant,I couldnt believe that she agreed on that.
Looking forward to following KC to Sonic. The Beat just wasn't the same without him.....when one door closes, another opens. Through change, we all experience growth!
I stopped listening to the beat morning show shortly after Kid left. Kid Carson show made me laugh out loud at work. I am looking forward to hearing Kid on the radio again!
Do not kid yourself kid, you didn't quit, you got fired. You had the summer off to sit out your non-compete and you got paid. All of this was on the net months ago, this is not a Scoop TVW. You went from a top station in the market to a very fringe player, you would have been better off in another market.
Well, for some reason all I hear is the sonic playing in everyones cars .....just saying. I dont think its fair to call it a fringe player,,,,,but the proof is out there. Everyone listens to sonic!
I can't wait to hear him and his new 'family' hit the Sonic airwaves on September 1st! Something has been missing from my mornings.
Congratulations Kid on your new job! Just proves you have integrity as an entertainer <3
I used to listen to Kid, then the show got weird. Much prefer Nat and Drew on Virgin.
Nat and drew got heart it's real real recognizes real !
I did the same thing. Kid became far too arrogant - I think since the whole bashing of one another when things went down between him and his Aussie co-worker - belittling him live on the air. TOTALY AWKWARD!!
Found the former format at The Beat hit & miss.
I usually just switch between The Beat, Virgin, Sonic, and News 1130 during my commute home most mornings anyway, or a good CD or two. The Virgin team with Nat and Drew is quite funny, as they play well off each other and have good chemistry (out of the morning shows).
I found Kid to be very funny as well as intelligent and entertaining. I often found my self laughing out loud on my commute. The morning show is now filled with verbal diarreha. I no longer find it entertaining. I look forward to following him at his new station. Good luck
Kid is one of the funniest guys on the radio ... Love his style and sense of humor ... Can't wait to hear you on the radio again bro
Stopped listening to the beat soon after Kid left. Couldn't handle the drab, boring conversations. The sexual references are FAR worse with the "new" show than they ever were with Kid.
Can't wait to hear his new show!!!
I could care less where Kid Carson ends up...or what he did over the summer. I'm thrilled he left The Beat and I can listen to it again.
Good riddens. I love the new morning show format on The Beat, the humor is more respectful and the dialogue is much more engaging and less preachy.
Love kid Carson! He's great!
Why did the Aliens return him?
I think his ego needs a check.
FYI KC! Money does NOT make you happy.
Kid Carson is the best radio show host I have heard on the air. You must be a boring old man if u don't find him entertaining.
The greatest thing to ever happen to the Beat was for KC to quit. I don't care for his style at all, often finding his stories laborious and too much innuendo and sex references - particularly aimed at his female co-hosts. Very tacky for early morning when young people are listening. He should be on after 10pm.
I agree. Just too boring to Listen to him. Had to switch quite often to other stations when he would quite often pickup random stories with no meaning of sense in them. Prefer 95.3 any day.
