2010 Russet Way
West Vancouver, B.C.
DESCRIPTION:
A special exhibition of rare paintings by Canada’s foremost impressionist painter, Daniel Izzárd (1923-2007) will benefit the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The exhibit pays homage to Daniel’s lifetime of achievements on the national and international art scenes, and to his personal commitment to philanthropy.
Recipient of both the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Federation of Canadian Artists and The Canadian Commemorative Medal for service to the community and country, Izzard's passion was unsurpassed both on and off the canvas.
Izzard made international headlines in 1986 at the age of 62 as the world's oldest recipient of a heart transplant. His successful surgery opened the door for heart transplants for people over 55. Izzard gained more than a new heart, he wholeheartedly embraced the art of living through service and giving back. Izzard surpassed the medical profession's expectations with his long and active life following his transplant.
Izzard served as the past Honorary Chairman of the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation, the BC SPCA and participated in charitable work with dozens of societies including the United Way and Cancer Society.
