The idea for The Juice Truck — parked at the corner of Abbott and Water streets on weekdays (summer weekends are split between Gastown and Kits) — was born after Zach Berman and Ryan Slater tasted a sweet drink made from sea-buckthorn berries in a tiny village high in the Himalayas. "It became all about finding unique juices and bringing them to Canada,” says Berman.
Back in Vancouver the buds set up shop in their stoplight-red truck, offering all-natural juices and smoothies made without ices, syrups or sorbets (also on the menu: raw-food snacks and soups). To their knowledge they’re the only juicers in town using a cold-pressing technique (similar to the way olive oil is made) to deliver optimal flavour, vitamins, minerals and enzymes.

This tiny juice bar and healthy eatery, located on the west side of Granville Island Public Market, takes first prize for access to fresh produce. Surrounded by fruit and veggie stands, Fraser Valley Juice & Salad has been expertly squeezing oranges, grapefruits, carrots, celery, kiwis, pineapples, melons and more ever since the market’s opening days.
For a delicious pairing try a cold vegetarian salad roll with a glass of honeydew juice.
