BC Home and Garden Magazine brings Jennifer Scott and Megan Baker from A Good Chick to Know to the BC Home & Garden Show this year

This year’s BC Home & Garden Show features 425 retailers in the home renovation, design and garden industries as well as a bevy of local and national celebrities including HGTV stars Bryan Baeumler of Leave It To Bryan and Vancouver’s own Philip DuMoulin and Sarah Daniels of Urban Suburban

The five-day event, to be held February 21 through February 24 at BC Place Stadium, also taps into the growing DIY trend, features eight globally inspired gardens and offers a hands-on play space for kids.

According to show manager Jill Kivett, the show is tailored toward the homeowner with a spring project in mind who wants to gather resources.

“People can touch the product, get inspiration and ideas,” said Kivett. “It is a lot easier than driving around the city.”

What’s New at this Year’s Show

HGTV’s Bryan Baeumler is one of
many celebs at this year’s show

Sewing: New this year is a pop up sewing studio featuring sewing guru Denise Wild. The Toronto-based expert will offer up her expertise on DIY projects for the home and teach people how to punch up the personality in any room with homemade toss cushions, draperies and accessories.

The pop up studio was established as a response to the growing DIY trend propelled by Etsy and Pinterest, says Kivett.

Family Day: Also new this year is a family day. On February 21 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. there will be face painting and easy art projects as well as ideas for cooking and gardening with little ones.

Indoor Gardens: With spring just around the corner, gardening is a highlight of the annual February show. This year there will be 7,000-square-feet of indoor gardens featuring top landscapers, exotic blooms, outdoor furnishings and water features. This year’s display features eight landscapes based on an around the world theme.

Be sure to visit the BC Home & Garden lounge sponsored by BC Home & Garden magazine. Located next to the HGTV Main Stage and designed by residential landscape designer Rob Spytz, this is a great place to unwind from all the action.

Interior designers Jennifer Scott and Megan Baker from A Good Chick to Know will be taking the Main Stage on behalf of the magazine to talk about how to translate the hottest trends for 2013 for your own space.
