This herb will make a decorative and delicious addition to your garden

Grow basil to jazz up your garden as well as your meals

Bred in France for high flavour, here’s a fun annual herb that epitomizes the term “ornamental edible.” This compact, bushy and small-leafed basil looks like a boxwood and remains much more uniform than other basils.

Gorgeous in containers or as an edging plant, it can be “pruned” for dinner: use it fresh in tomato-basil salads with balsamic vinegar and extra-virgin olive oil or for infinite other warm-weather culinary delights.

At the end of the season, harvest it all and puree the basil leaves with a little extra-virgin olive oil, then freeze in tiny portions for soups, sauces and pestos.
