Add roasted chicken to a salad for a great healthy meal on-the-go
Being busy doesn't have to mean bad eating habits. Try these quick and easy-to-prepare meals
Thanks to the growing availability of semi-prepared raw ingredients, like cut-up fresh fruits and vegetables, bagged salads and pre-washed spinach, a busy life doesn’t have to be an impediment to healthy eating at home.
These cleaned, pre-packaged foods can help you put a nutritious meal on the table fast, because much of the preparation has already been done. If used within their best-before dates, pre-packaged veggies are nutritionally comparable to vegetables prepared from scratch.
Healthy meal ideas for you to try
Try these meals using prepared fruits and vegetables as a base:
- Blend cut-up fruit with a ripe banana, plain yogurt and a teaspoon (5 mL) of wheat germ for a quick breakfast smoothie.
- Stir-fry pre-cut vegetables with a little oil in an oven-proof frying pan. Add beaten eggs and a little pre-shredded cheese. Broil in the oven to make a frittata for any meal.
