Black15in1 is a hair-product line that claims to treat 15 hair needs all at once. Its very popular Miracle Hair Treatment is its flagship product and now it’s launched Twice a Week Miracle Hair Shampoo and Conditioner. These products were based on the statistic that most women wash their hair twice a week, so the formulations were devised to enrich the hair with extra nourishment and active ingredients to last between shampoos.

I do like hair products because I have long hair (mid-back) and I think the longer the hair is, the older it is, and the more you need to pamper it to keep it in good condition. Age aside, my hair is otherwise in very good, unprocessed condition. Unless my hair is sweaty, chlorinated or sticky from loads of hair products, I typically wash it only every 4-6 days, which makes me the ideal candidate to try these products.

There are a lot of overlapping claims on the list. If a product is going to prevent frizzies, I expect it to smooth the hair; if it repairs dry hair, I expect it to moisturize; if it enhances natural body, I expect it to add volume. See what I mean? And I always expect my hair products to work instantly.

Black 15in1 Miracle Hair Treatment

Redundancy aside, the hair treatment is nice. Not miraculous, but solidly good. It’s lightweight, so it doesn’t weigh my hair down and there doesn’t seem to be any buildup or stickiness. But other than that, I couldn’t detect any improvements to my hair condition.

The hair treatment is thick and pumps out in a single jet-stream. My strategy was to spray a good amount into my hands, rub them together, and then run my hands through my hair to distribute the product. I’ve heard of other women decanting it into another spray bottle and adding water to thin it out. The thicker original formula is perfect for adding to just-washed hair, but is a bit sticky on dry hair.

This treatment is meant to nourish your hair over time, like a vitamin, so presumably, if I were to stick with it for longer, my opinion might be different. For now I think it’s an average hair treatment product. Try it if you’re looking for something new and commit to it for the long haul and let me know if you like it once you’re done with the bottle.

I have heard women say it’s just as good as the very popular and very expensive Kerstase Ciment Thermique, when used as a heat protectant. So if you use heat styling tools on your hair frequently, I recommend using a heat protectant and think Black 15in1 is worth looking into.

Black 15in1 Shampoo and Conditioner

The shampoo was fine, but didn’t make much of a difference to my hair. Ironically, I found I had to wash my hair more frequently. That clean feeling just didn’t last as long with this product as with my usual shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo is thick and pretty concentrated, so a little will go a long way. Normally that’s a very good thing, but I have to say the awkward design of the bottle meant trying to negotiate the right amount of product in the shower with slippery hands and a slippery bottle.

The conditioner is extremely thick and reminded me of Terax’s Crema, which I adore. But back to the awkward shape of the bottle; it was downright frustrating the first few times, trying to pound out the product like ketchup. Then I started storing it upside down, which helped immensely, but begs the question: why didn’t the packaging designers think of this? The results were fine and my hair was very smooth, but looking at the ingredients list, I saw that silicone is the fourth ingredient, which explains the “slip” left on the hair.

I avoid silicone in hair products. While they’ll leave your hair looking and feeling smooth and shiny, I feel it’s an artificial way of achieving truly healthy hair and masks potential problems. It coats your hair and can eventually lead to product buildup. Also, I prefer to use a smidge of coconut oil to condition my hair (one of the very few oils that will actually penetrate and nourish the hair shaft) and silicone only serves as a barrier.
