Hotel Highlights

Think Las Vegas is only for night owls? Think again. There’s plenty to do on the Strip and beyond before the sun goes down and the glitz amps up.

Here are a few options to help you start planning an action-packed day.

Take a leap with SkyJump at the Stratosphere, a controlled freefall from the 108th floor for a breathtaking experience; go bowling at the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa’s 72-lane facility; stroll the Downtown Container Park, an outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment attraction; or soak up the sun poolside (guest choices range from SLS Las Vegas’s intimate open-air rooftop LUX Pool to Mandalay Bay’s sweeping 11-acre beach – complete with 1.6-million-gallon wave pool).

Where to Eat

From celebrity chef restaurants to favourite franchises and one-off hits, Las Vegas is a foodie’s paradise – even in the daytime. Start with sage-fried chicken and bacon waffles at Hash House A Go Go on Main St in Downtown Vegas. Or, sleep in and savour brunch at ARIA’s BARDOT Brasserie, celebrating its first year of serving up chef Michael Mina’s French-inspired plates; Khao Soi (crispy duck) and spicy chicken soup at chef Saipin Chutima’s funky Lotus of Siam, or fresh oysters on the half shell at the Palace Station’s über-popular Oyster Bar will carry you over to dinner.

Where to Play

And we’re not talking blackjack. Head downtown to the Mob Museum, where you and your peeps can make like Al Capone and step behind the one-way mirror for a police lineup souvenir photo. Or, take selfies with the likes of Will Smith and Sandra Bullock at Madame Tussauds in the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian, a wax museum home to eight rooms of lifelike celebrity figures. Next, go play outside with a few rounds on a championship golf course; tour the Hoover Dam (a National Historic Landmark); or hike the Lake Mead National Recreational Area, where desert meets water.
