Check out the BC Hydro Smart Home where local designer Jamie Banfield hasn’t sacrificed style for energy-efficient living. Banfield’s West Coast design will provide you with lots of inspiration to create the smart home of your dreams.

Ask a designer

Need home design tips and tricks? The event’s Ask A Designer studio features complimentary one-on-one consultations with local interior designers and real estate professionals. In 10 minutes, you can become a pro on buying, selling, renovating and decorating your space.

Make a bid for a good cause

Taking inspiration from a favourite item in their closet, 15 local fashion bloggers, stylists and influencers will repurpose a home decor piece from ReStore Vancouver for the popular Ultimate Upcycle Challenge. Bid on these creative pieces, and bring the city’s best style into your home. This year’s list of designers include radio personality Karen Khunkhun, Style Nine to Five founder Christie Lohr and jewellery designer Melanie Auld. 100 per cent of the silent auction proceeds will benefit the Habitat for Humanity Society of Greater Vancouver.

Learn a new skill

Try your hand at workshops provided by some of Vancouver’s finest local artisans. Learn the beautiful art of calligraphy with Fox and Flourish, make floral wreaths with Celsia Florist, sew designs with Spool of Thread and weave with Lucy Poskitt Textiles. Reserve your spot online directly with each vendor and bring your very own handmade art to life.

Shop one-of-a-kind items

This year’s show features two sections where you can shop for all things local, handmade and unique. Visit the M(art)ket to purchase canvases, prints and photographs from a curated collection of local artists, including Farahnaz Samari Art and Barry J Brady Photography. Browse through the popular Portobello West pop-up to discover everything from jewellery, textiles, candles, knitted goods, gourmet treats and more.

Snap a shelfie

Here’s your chance to win a prize! Snap your favourite pic of any shelf display located at the entrance of the Home + Design Show and upload it to your social media account with the hashtag #ShowShelfie. You could win a $250 gift card from a selected store just by getting creative.
