The only thing better than kicking back in Whistler is kicking back on a Whistler patio

If you’re in Whistler this summer, you’re doing it wrong if you don’t find yourself on a sunny patio. When summer’s in full force, so are the patio crowds. Luckily, there are plenty of fantastic spots to choose from. Mountaintop or mountainside, whatever your mood or style, there’s a Whistler patio waiting for you.

Read on for 13 of the best patios to check out this summer in Whistler.

FireRock Lounge at the Westin Resort and Spa – 4090 Whistler Way, Whistler

The FireRock Lounge is named after its lovely feature wall stone fireplace, but look 90 degrees and the spectacular view will take your breath away. Their outdoor patio is probably Whistler’s best-kept secret. The large outdoor space is completely dwarfed by the magnificent scenery that ensconces the hotel. Located at the north end of the village, this hidden gem offers unobstructed panoramas of Sprout and Rainbow mountains. The experience is quintessential Whistler while also transporting you somewhere charmingly Heidi-and-her-goats bucolic – it’s Whistler, but elevated.

Their patio’s recently been refreshed, so plan on staying for a while to enjoy the amenities, scenery and, of course, the cocktails. Not to be missed is their classic Pimm’s, perfect paired with their charcuterie and cheese plate ($16).

Cure Lounge at Nita Lake Lodge – 2131 Lake Placid Road, Whistler

Cure Lounge is nestled at the foot of glacier-fed Nita Lake, a spectacular backdrop for your patio visit. One of Whistler’s only lakeside patios, this is great place to stop of lunch or afternoon cocktails.

Every Wednesday, Cure Lounge offers “Go Local” specials featuring cured spring salmon ($13), half a dozen oysters ($8), an organic beef burger ($15) and wine and beer ($5). You’ll also be able to catch live, local music there from 6-9 p.m.

And in case you’re not lucky enough to be staying there, they offer a complimentary shuttle from the Whistler Information Centre.

Dubh Linn Gate at the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside – 4320 Sundial Crescent, Whistler

Dubh Linn Gate is one of those charming places where time slips away; you’ll stop in for drinks in the afternoon then find yourself ordering dinner and by midnight you’re best friends with everyone on the dance floor. Their slopeside patio space is always full with beer and music (two very important patio necessities). Live local bands keep the atmosphere upbeat with Gaelic cheer.

They’re well-known for their draft and craft beers and they take the art of pouring the perfect pint very seriously.

The Roundhouse Lodge – Whistler Mountain

Located at the top of Whistler Mountain, The Roundhouse boasts three large patios. You’ll be mesmerised by the vistas of surrounding mountains and valleys, and it’s a great place to grab a beer and some poutine during your Peak2Peak adventure.

If you’re around over the weekend, catch the Mountain Top BBQ Series, a gourmet BBQ event held at the Roundhouse Lodge every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Bearfoot Bistro – 4121 Village Green, Whistler

They might be known for serving vodka flights in their chilly (and amazing) Ice Room, but Bearfoot Bistro‘s outdoor patio evokes a cool, sophisticated vibe that transports you to sunny California. Their attention to creative and detailed nuances guarantees your patio experience will be as memorable as the restaurant.

Make sure you try their vodka cocktail, the John Sezar, made with housemade bacon vodka, spices and a dehydrated beer rim ($14).

Araxi – 4222 Village Square, Whistler

In the heart of Whistler Village, Araxi‘s patio is a prime spot for people watching. This Whistler institution, famous for its stellar food and impeccable service, creates an inviting and approachable patio that welcomes everyone.

They have an impressive and delicious lineup of Araxi-exclusive cocktails, such as the Firecracker Margarita ($13.50) made with tequila, basil, jalapeno, lime and a sea salt rim – perfect with a platter of fresh oysters (10 for $15).

Palmer’s Gallery Bar and Grill at the Whistler Golf Club – 4001 Whistler Way, Whistler

Named after Arnold Palmer (who designed this golf course), Palmer’s overlooks the 1st and 18th holes. It has beautiful 100-seat patio with old-school charm, complete with an outdoor bar, barbecue and, of course, gorgeous vistas of Whistler’s surrounding peaks. And if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of a black bear rumbling through the course; wildlife sightings are a regular occurrence here.

What to order? The Hard Arnie, of course (vodka, lemonade and iced tea, $6).

Mallard Lounge Terrace at Fairmont Chateau Whistler – 4599 Chateau Blvd, Whistler

Mallard Lounge Terrace just might be the sunniest patio in Whistler. Located in Upper Village, the ambience is relaxed and refined.

The expansive terrace overlooks both their croquet lawn and Blackcomb Mountain. It’s thoughtfully laid out so you’ll find clusters of tables in various nooks, giving it a more intimate feel. At one end there is a small garden complete with a waterfall, at the other a large firepit perfect for cooler evenings.

In the summer, stop by for Fairmont Fridays when they feature $5 drink specials, complimentary canapés, live music and lawn games (including giant Jenga!) on the croquet lawn.

Longhorn Saloon and Grill – 4284 Mountain Square, Whistler

This Whistler institution is getting a million-dollar facelift this summer and if you thought their outdoor space was large before, wait ’till the renovations are complete (early August) and they open up their new 275-seat patio. Longhorn is at the base of Whistler Mountain, giving you one of the best views for watching all the goings-on on the mountain.

Nachos are definitely the patio snack of choice at Longhorn’s, especially when paired with their Mexican Bulldog cocktail – a Margarita with an inverted bottle of Corona. Really.

Fifty Two 80 Eatery and Bar at the Four Seasons – 4591 Blackcomb Way, Whistler

Summertime at the Four Seasons is always a bit whimsical and breezy while staying just on the right side of elegant. Fifty Two 80 keeps things light and resort-like with its outdoor patio, which hosts BBQs, theme nights and live music throughout the summer.

Stop by to indulge in some staff favourites, including the Caesartini, made with bacon-infused vodka and olives stuffed with blue cheese. Or try the Spearhead, a twist on the famous Trader Vic Mai Tai, using strawberry Cointreau and pineapple rum infusions topped with pink grapefruit and passion fruit foam.

Garibaldi Lift Company – 4165 Springs Lane, Whistler

The Garibaldi Lift Company (GLC) has one of the best locations, right at the base of the Whistler Village Gondola. Their extremely popular patio has recently undergone renovations, so now there’s even more room to lounge and linger.

They make arguably Whistler’s best Caesars and have recently released a new and ambitious Caesar menu that includes mouth-watering variations like the Pacific Rim Caesar with Siracha, oyster sauce and salmon jerky, and the Cowboy Caesar with whisky, Worcestershire and beef jerky ($8.75 each).
