Whether you grew up on the West Coast, have recently moved here, or are just planning to visit, there’s no doubt you’ve got a bunch of adventures you can’t wait to cross off your bucket list. To help you prioritize, we’re sharing some of our must-do B.C. experiences so you don’t miss out.Joe’s BBQ Boat
Experience: Joe’s BBQ Boat Rentals
Cost: $219 (early bird) & $249 (regular), Monday to Thursday; $269 (early bird) & $299 (regular), Friday to Sunday (including holidays) for 2.5 hours
Location: 1820 Mast Tower Lane, Granville Island
Bucket list factor: Looking for a fun-filled excursion within the city? Joe’s BBQ Boat Rentals offers urban-dwellers, nature-lovers and visitors alike the opportunity to experience waterfront dining in their very own boat. With no fuel costs and free BBQ propane, these eight-seater round vessels depart from the docks of Granville Island’s Maritime Market & Marina—and once you set off, you can float your way around False Creek, taking in the beautiful beach, city and mountain views while grilling up your favourite food with friends.
Inspired by the idea of taking traditional beach BBQs to a new level, the eponymous Joe encountered similar boats in various cities on his travels throughout Europe and knew Vancouver’s waterfront would be the perfect location to offer something similar. In keeping with the city’s drive towards green initiatives, all fuel boat engines were replaced with eco-friendly electric motors, making Joe’s one of the only BBQ boat companies to achieve this green goal in the world.
Each boat rental lasts two and a half hours, and with four boats available to rent, you can book a BBQ regatta for up to 32 people—just remember to BYOF (bring your own food), and all other eating utensils (cutlery, cups, etc. are available to rent for $3 per person).
So whether you have a special occasion to celebrate, want to admire Vancouver’s beautiful shoreline, or just fancy a good time, float from sunrise to sunset and make the most of the summer on the ultimate BBQ-equipped vessel.
A boating license is not required, and a member of the team at Joe’s will talk you through all the details regarding the electric engine, propane BBQ and safety equipment.Facebook/Joe’s BBQ Boat
