We’re showcasing Vancouver’s best restaurants and special menu items—and why they should be your next meal

Restaurant: Glowbal

Location: 590 West Georgia Street, Vancouver

The Dish: The surf-and-turf-themed tasting platter

The Details: If you’re looking for a decadent dining experience for two, search no further, as chef Alex Kim from Glowbal restaurant has created a super-indulgent tasting platter just in time for the official start of patio season. The special features an amuse bouche (we were served duck with cheese and rosemary), plus appetizers, including wagyu beef tartare on bone marrow and a classic jumbo prawns cocktail. For entrées, enjoy beef tenderloin Wellington (with mushrooms duxelles and sautéed spinach), butter-poached lobster, as well as smoked duck with bacon and white bean cassoulet, accompanied by seasonal vegetables on a bed of cheesy mashed potatoes. Finish with Glowbal’s pastry chef’s daily creation of dessert (we enjoyed a delicious blueberry cheesecake with lemon gelato, which was a nice bright finish to a rich meal). The platter takes at least 30 minutes to prepare so plan to relax with a cocktail and enjoy the ambience of Glowbal’s flower-draped patio in anticipation of a very satisfying meal (you’ll probably be taking home some leftovers, trust us).

Available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; $68 per person, two guests minimum; reservations are recommendedGlowbal patio
