Summer is finally here and since we still need to respect physical distance regulations, there’s no better time to pick up a delicious, already prepped picnic meal from your favourite restaurant. So head to the local park or beach for delicious eats in the sun.

Here are 10 ready-to-eat picnic lunches for you to try…

 

1. Chancho

Providing enough food to feed four, Chancho’s picnic kits offer a lineup of authentic Mexican dishes, including your choice of carnitas—Maciza (shoulder/leg), Panza (belly), Campechano (shoulder and belly) or Papas Dia (potato) or Verduras Dia (veggie), as well as sides, salsas, beans, guacamole, chips, and a Margarita or Michelada mix.

2. Ladurée

Ladurée’s picnic sets feature either a savoury butter croissant sandwich with ham and cheese, or smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumber and dill; a refreshing fruit cup; and a box of three assorted macarons. Their high-quality, local ingredients are sourced from Oyama Sausage and Les Amis Du Fromage, and guests can add a variety of individual-sized cakes, pastries and drinks to add to their selection.

3. Trattoria

Available at all three locations, (Kitsilano, Burnaby and Park Royal), The U Pik-Nik from Trattoria offers a variety of bruschettas (chickpeas, olives and tomatoes), your choice of salad, and one pasta dish of your choice from their regular menu. Two cans of White Claw or Red Truck will also be included in your selection.

4. The Lazy Gourmet

Serving up delicious grilled sandwiches on ciabatta (including grilled veggies with pistachio goats cheese and roast beef with caramelized onions and apple wood cheddar), The Lazy Gourmet’s lunch in the park also comes with Italian potato salad, fruit kabob, lemon square and San Pellegrino sparkling water. Wine and beer is available to purchase as extra.

5. Jules Bistro

Jules Bistro’s summer picnic basket for two includes four bread rolls, two Niçoise salads and house-made chicken liver mousse with charcuterie selections, cheese and two house-made chocolate-chili tarts with the option to add a bottle of wine to your order.

6. Cibo Trattoria

Available for 48-hour pre-order and pickup at the downtown restaurant, Cibo’s fully loaded kit offers enough food for four adults and comes wrapped and ready to go with grilling tips from the new head chef Jesse Zuber. In addition, you’ll receive two 10 oz AAA 38-day dry aged rib-eye steaks, prawn skewers, vegetable skewers, antipasto platter, a selection of charcuterie, Mediterranean potato salad and one loaf of house-made ciabatta bread. A feast for four indeed!

7. Lil Bird Sandwich Co.

Perfect for picnics at the park or beach, Lil Bird Sandwich Co. offers a variety of individually packed sandwiches with a side of delicious lemon-herbed chips and house-made lemonade. The window sandwich bar is located at Kafka’s Coffee on Main Street.

8. Juke Fried Chicken

Ideal for a personal picnic, Juke Fried Chicken’s Juke Box includes two pieces of fried chicken, a quarter slab of ribs, and a choice of side between: corn chicken fritters, fries, corn on the cob with chili lime mayo and Parmesan-tempura crumble, plus more!
