1. Roll Bounce — Saturday, February 8

Bounce, rock, skate or roll your way to the Pipe Shop in North Vancouver for a night of funky roller skating and dancing. Kyprios will be spinning the tunes from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., so bring down any vintage vinyl that you want to hear. Book skates for 7:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. sessions or bring your own blades or skates to join in any time.

2. Winter Wander — Saturday, February 8

Bring the family to Vanier Park to explore Vancouver’s cultural hub with one day of $5 admission to the Museum of Vancouver, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, Vancouver Maritime Museum, City of Vancouver Archives, and the Vancouver Academy of Music. Purchase your ticket on the day of the event from the Museum of Vancouver, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre or Vancouver Maritime Museum.

3. IndieFlicks Vancouver Monthly Film Festival — Sunday, February 9

The UK’s only multi-city film festival, showcasing the best emerging talent from filmmakers around the world, comes to Vancouver for monthly screenings of indie flicks with Q&As and social events.

4. Academy Awards: VIFF Oscar Party — Sunday, February 9

VIFF’s annual red carpet Oscar party gives a virtual experience of the telecast with real live hosts, Oscar bingo, prize packages and an open invitation to enter the Best Dressed fashion show. Enjoy free popcorn and purchase food truck fare from Chickpea throughout the evening. Starting at 3 p.m. with Red Carpet commentary from Steven Schelling at 3:30 p.m., Best Dressed Fashion Show at 4:30 p.m. (suits) and 4:45 p.m. (dresses) and the Award Show from 5.00 p.m. with funny folks Steven Schelling continuing on in the theatre and David C. Jones hosting in the atrium lounge.

5. LEVEL UP — Friday, February 14

Share the love at Vancouver’s only hip-hop, rap and R&B celebration of queer artists for a special Valentine’s Day edition of the monthly event. DJs include Softieshan, Zam Zam and Nea, with performances by Vixen Von Flex, Mx Bukuru and Tyrell.

6. JFL Northwest — Friday, February 14 to February 23

Hannah Gadsby, Maria Bamford, Bill Burr and Patton Oswalt headline 12-hilarious-days of star-powered stand-up, podcasts, improv, film and sketch performances, alongside breakout comics and local talent at the JFL Northwest comedy festival.

7. Family Day Weekend Festival — Friday, February 14 to Monday, February 17

Hit the slopes for four days of family-friendly fun and activities for kids big and small, including a special opening of the Tube Park, discounts and special events.

8. Valentine’s Wine & ‘Cheese’ Mingler — Friday, February 14

Giving lovers of plant-based cuisine and boutique wineries a chance to enjoy vegan wines and dairy free ‘cheese’ at a special Valentine’s Wine & ‘Cheese’ Mingler this Valentine’s Day. Beetbox, presented in partnership with Blue Heron Creamery — a Vancouver producer of 100-per-cent plant-based, cultured products — are hosting a grazing-style event showcasing an array of Blue Heron ‘cheeses’ and canapés by Beetbox Chef/co-owner Bryan Satterford and Old-World, all-vegan wine.

9. Illuminate Yaletown — Friday, February 14 & Saturday, February 15

Yaletown gets lit at Vancouver’s premier arts and technology festival, which will take place over two nights with new activations and illuminations from Vancouver-based tech giants Go2 Productions and Tangible Interaction. Local restaurants and bars will be taking part to honour the 10th anniversary of the 2010 Winter Olympics with unique cocktails and screenings of the gold medal hockey game.

10. After Hours at Vancouver Aquarium — Friday, February 14
