2. Poetry Project Exhibition and Book Launch – Until Sunday, June 26

Instagram/ParkerartsalonArt meets poetry at the second Poetry Project Exhibition and Book Launch, held at the new Gallery George at 1502 East Hastings. A collaborative project between Beedie Luminaries and ParkerArtSalon, half the proceeds or art sales will go to the Beedie Luminaries foundation. Beedie Luminaries students were invited to submit a work of poetry, inspired by a selection of art provided by the ParkerArtSalon. The poems will be exhibited with the corresponding artwork by the Parker artists. Books will be available for purchase at George Gallery for $25 each.

3. Vancouver Farmers Markets – Until end of October

Facebook/Vancouver Farmers MarketsFill up on fresh fruit and veggies—and other locally-made treats—at farmers markets this month. Saturdays see the return of the Riley Park, Trout Lake and West End markets, with Kitsilano and Mount Pleasant ones popping up on Sundays and a Wednesday market starting downtown at 750 Hornby Street on June 1st, plus False Creek’s Thursday market starting on June 14th.

4. Black Music Month Pop-up Market – Friday, June 3 to Sunday, June 5

Facebook/Elbo Jamaican PattiePresented by Fade to Black Entertainment, Black Music Month Vancouver (BMMV2022) focuses on bringing the community together and showcasing music, dance, arts and culture from established and emerging talent. On Saturday, June 4th and Sunday, June 5th, Art Soul Methods hosts a fun pop-up market featuring live music while you shop and an exciting vendor line-up, featuring local BIPOC artists and artisans. There will also be hot Jamaican patties available from Elbo Jamaican Patties.

5. Momentum – Saturday, June 4

Facebook/Ballet BCBig fan of Ballet B.C.? Momentum is a high-end fundraising event that aims to raise $300,000 to help the 35-year-old company have a bright future. Hosted by media personalities Fred Lee and Tamara Taggart, the night will feature luxurious auction items, incredible cuisine, and all-new live performances by Ballet B.C. company artists under the direction of Medhi Walerski. Dress to impress in creative cocktail attire and dive into the inner workings of one of the most exciting and innovative contemporary dance companies in the world. 6. Bard on the Beach – Wednesday, June 8 to Saturday, September 24

Facebook/Bard on the BeachBack at Sen̓ákw/Vanier Park for 2022, the waterside thespian experience returns with Shakespeare’s comic masterpiece A Midsummer Night’s Dream being performed in the tented stage. Follow four young lovers and a troupe of stumbling actors into an enchanted wood full of elves, goblins and talking trees on a journey of discovery to find out who they are, whom they love and why it matters.

7. 7 Generations Cup – Friday, June 10 to Sunday, June 12

Photo Credit: Ryan ClarkTaking inspiration for its name from the Kwantlen First Nations’ seven laws of life: health, happiness, humbleness, generations, generosity, forgiveness and understanding, the 7 Generations Cup is an Indigenous-hosted pro-skateboarding event. This new event features a variety of events across its three-day span, including an all-terrain contest, a freestyle cup, trick battles, and a competition marking the 35th anniversary of the historic Mini-ramp Challenge, a first-of-its-kind event that took place in Richmond in 1987. There will also be Pow wow dancers, Indigenous drummers and singers, a basket repatriation ceremony, Indigenous vendors and more.

8. Community Big Bands for Ukraine – Saturday, June 11

Unite for Ukraine with an evening of music, fun, food and dance. Organized by the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians and the Polish Friendship “Zgoda” Society, this fundraiser for Ukraine features performances from the Vancouver Folk Ensemble, the Fat Jazz Big Band, the Ikuko May Quintet, the Mighty Fraser Big Band, the Dovbush Dancers, the South Vancouver Big Band, the Lesley Branton Trio and the All-star Swing Dance Band.

9. Queer Arts Festival: Hauntings – Wednesday, June 18 to Friday, July 8

10. Golden Spike Days – Thursday, June 30 to Sunday, July 3

Facebook/Golden Spike Days Festival Create some golden memories and head to Port Moody for free fun at one of the oldest and longest-running events in B.C. (now in its 45th year). Commemorating the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway line and its arrival at the original western terminus in Port Moody where the last spike was driven, the Golden Spike Days Festival features a weekend of live entertainment, tasty food, arts and crafts, a youth talent competition and craft beer vendors.
