Save-On-Foods is always introducing exciting new products to try. But with so many items in store, where to look first? That’s where I come in. This month I’ve done a bit of legwork and narrowed it down to a list of five items. These are all new food products that rate high on my list, and are featured through the Save-On-Foods “Talk About What’s New” program — an innovative one-stop destination that let’s shoppers be in-the-know and find out about new products first. The key for me when shopping for groceries is finding a few favourites that are not only delicious, but also convenient and fit my lifestyle. I love a variety of foods and I like to try new things. Whether I’m entertaining my friends, taking the day by storm or having a quiet night on the sofa I’m always on the hunt for products that will suit my many moods — and these items definitely hit the spot.

Whenever I’m in the mood for entertaining and my pals are coming over for cocktails, I’ve got to ensure my bar is well stocked. Once I get the basic liquors it means hitting the grocery store to load up on lemons, limes, tonic, soda and a few bottles of the Western Family Italian Sodas. These are a nice addition as they’re perfect as a mix or enjoyed on their own. I would serve it in a short glass over ice with a peel of lemon for a refreshing mocktail. Or to take things up a notch, I’d start with ice and a shot of vodka, add the Italian soda and finish off with a sprig of mint.

I always like to take the day by storm! After my early morning spin class I load up on a bit of protein with Liberte’s new single serving Greek Seeds & Fruit bowls. The pineapple and banana flavour comes with sunflower, pumpkin and flax seeds, and strawberry flavour is just as delicious. I like the crunch of the seeds and the balance of sweetness from the fruit with the creamy tang of the yogurt. It would also be delicious in a smoothie. Having a healthy breakfast and a good sweat is my ideal way to start any day. It makes me believe I can move mountains!

I’m a busy gal on the go. Most weekdays I’ve got back-to-back-to-back meetings and I’m running from one side of town to the other. This is my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Having been busy for as long as I can remember, I well know the importance of refuelling between lunch and dinner, so I was happy to discover these new Ocean’s SnacKits. It’s a convenient tuna salad in an easy to open container and comes with bite-size crackers and handy little knife. These SnacKits come in a variety of flavours and bridge the gap between meals to help me avoid that dreaded afternoon energy dip. Because who’s got time for that?!

Sometimes I’m in the mood for a movie night. That’s when it’s time to put my feet up, rent a chick flick and indulge with a nice glass of wine and an antipasto board of cheeses, charcuterie, olives and crackers. These new Premium Spreads from Western Family fit in quite nicely too. A little goat cheese on a cracker along with the pomegranate spread is divine, and it’s impossible to stop at just one. I could save this for when I have company over, but why wait? After a long day, it’s time to treat myself.

I’m always in the mood for bread! From pizza to toast, I have a hard time getting through a day without it. And for me the best way to enjoy bread is in the form of a sandwich. Fresh Artisan Breads are made in store everyday and come in a long list of flavours, from Honey Whole Grain to Sunflower to Quinoa Purple Wheat. The Potato Buttermilk loaf is yummy as part of my Best Ever Grilled Cheese. All you have to do is toast two slices of bread, spread on butter and add sliced cheddar. Then melt under a broiler. Pile on a few strips of cooked bacon or salami, add some sliced dill pickles and enjoy. You’ll thank me.
