Explore Vancouver's historic homes and their unique stories at the 14th Annual Heritage House Tour on June 5
The Vancouver Heritage Foundation is offering the chance to see inside some of the city’s most intriguing, interesting and beautiful character homes with their biggest awareness and fundraising event of the year. The 14th annual Heritage House Tour is a full-day, self-guided tour of nine private homes, where proceeds go towards educating people and preserving the city’s history.
The event will feature an incredible collection of stories, impressive architecture and creative design ideas and includes a look inside: one beautifully retained home with gorgeous gardens; another in First Shaughnessy that was divided into strata units in the late 1980s; and one home that was empty for nine years and is now on the verge of redevelopment. The WilMar estate, a property that was to be demolished but is now part of a new redevelopment plan, will be open in its original state on the tour.
For all the architecture fans, there will be a stop at the one-of-a-kind Art Moderne-style Barber Residence, an impeccably retained Craftsman with most of its original features, and a great selection of other Craftsman style homes that showcase Vancouver’s love for this well-built style.
