Great Canadian Shore Cleanup — Sept. 21

Keep the shorelines pristine and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup with the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF. Lend a hand this weekend and help clean up Iona Beach Park. Enjoy a free lunch and unlimited water (so don’t forget your water bottle).

Vancouver Special House Tour — Sept. 21

This weekend Vancouver Heritage Foundation’s Vancouver Special Tour is showing off five incredible Vancouver homes to the public. Designers show off the many different ways you can make a Vancouver Special feel, well, special!

Bearman will share a practical three-step process on how to start believing in yourself. The workshop aims to give confidence and empower participants who struggle with self confidence.

Walk for Reconciliation — Sept. 22

Embrace and celebrate the relationship between all Canadians and the nation’s Aboriginal people at this year’s Reconciliation Walk. The 4K-walk will begin at Queen Elizabeth plaza and finish in False Creek. After the walk, share stories, join conversations and engage in honest dialogue.

War Horse — Sept. 24-29

The 2011 Tony Award-winner for Best Play comes to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, Warhorse is the moving World War One tale depicting the lifelong relationship between a boy and his horse. The show features moving songs and breathtaking lifestyle puppetry that bring the horses to life.

Penelope — Sept. 25

The talented team that brought you The Last Days of Judas Iscariot is back with another witty and entertaining take on a classic Greek myth. Penelope has waited 10 lonely years for her husband Odysseus to return, and only four men remain in a competition for her hand. Expect plenty of folly and laughter as the battle for her love reaches a crescendo.

It’s that time of year! The Vancouver International Film Festival returns with brand new stories for the silver screen. With 340 films from over 70 countries being showcased, you’ll partake in some of the very best storytelling from around the world.

Project TRUE Fundraiser and Fashion Show 2013 — Sept. 26

The very first TRUE Fundraiser and Fashion Show aims to raise awareness and generate discussion around eating disorders. TRUE has chosen Vancouver’s top designers to present an inclusive show for women of all sizes, ages and shapes. The goal is to raise enough money to open a day treatment facility here in Vancouver.

The Rennie Collection — Sept. 18 to Oct. 5

The Rennie Collection at The Wing Sang Building features six internationally renowned artists: Pablo Bronstein, Aaron Curry, Andrew Grassie, Louise Lawler, Mike Nelson, Roman Ondak and Ian Wallace. The show, dubbed “institutional critique,” looks to question the museum as an entity and focus on ideas regarding space and movement.
