Riverfest — Sept. 27-28

Celebrate BC Rivers Day with your family at Riverfest on the New Westminster Quay boardwalk. It’s a free public arts and environmental festival honouring the Fraser River with live music, dramatic performances, and work from a large number of artists. There will be river conservation information available, and kid-friendly crafts and activities for the little ones.

Jason Aldean — Sept. 28

Country superstar Jason Aldean broke both Paul McCartney’s and Dave Matthews venue attendance records at Boston’s Fenway Park this July when he played there for his Night Train Tour. Not bad considering it’s also the first time a country artist has played at the historic stadium. Expect just as much enthusiasm from fans September 28 on his Vancouver tour stop at Rogers Arenawith openers Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett.

Vancouver Book Fair — Sept. 28-29

The Vancouver Book Fair is the only antique, collectible and rare book fair in Western Canada. This year the unique sale is taking place at UBC Robson Square on September 28 and 29. Book lovers can expect to find a large range of items including: first and limited editions, signed copies, manuscripts and books from as far back as the 15th century.

Artists for Conservation — Sept. 28 to Oct. 6

This beautiful exhibit of art depicting nature and wildlife from around the world will be available daily at Grouse Mountain September 28 to October 6. Forty per cent of artwork sales will go towards a variety of conservation efforts including the David Suzuki Foundation. Art workshops, live painting demos and guest lectures are also scheduled throughout the festival. Opening celebrations with author, painter, and marine conservationist Richard Ellis take place on Sept 28 at 11 am.

Steveston Scarecrow Crawl — Oct. 1-31

Embrace the spirit of fall at the fourth annual Steveston Scarecrow Crawl. Throughout the month of October, one-of-a-kind homemade scarecrows will be lurking outside local stores and restaurants ready for their photo op with you. See how many you can spot!

Capture Photography Festival — Oct. 1 to Nov. 15

Vancouver’s first annual photography festival launches October 1st. Throughout the six-week festival, Capture will feature exhibitions from Vancouver’s leading galleries, public installations and a series of community-based photo workshops, tours, artist talks, films and panel discussions.

Bon Jovi — Oct. 2

Sing along to Bon Jovi‘s classic hits and hear tracks from the new album What About Now when they rock out at Rogers Arena on October 2nd.

Venus in Fur — Oct. 3 to Nov. 2

Last year’s comedic broadway hitVenus In Furis coming to the Granville Island stage. The story focuses on a young actress trying to land a lead role in a play. During a charged audition for her director, she gets caught up in a role playing game that blurs the line between fantasy and reality. The broadway version of this saucy tale was nominated for Best Play at the 2013 Tony Awards.

Port Moody Farmers Market — Oct. 4

The Port Moody Farmers Market takes place every Friday 3-7pm at the Port Moody Recreation Complex. Local musicians perform as vendors sell BC produce, crafts and tasty baked goods.

The Rocky Horror Show — Oct. 4-26

Get into the Halloween spirit by tossing toast and toilet paper at the cast of The Rocky Horror Show at Jericho Arts Centre October 4-26. Both early evening and midnight performances are available for this campy classic.
