Heuchera Marmalade can grow to be a foot tall
Q: I’m looking for a heuchera with bright foliage that lasts through the year. What do you suggest?
Heuchera ‘Marmalade’ has outperformed all other heucheras in my garden. Its russet-peach foliage with a bronzed-pink underside stays beautiful through the seasons.
Like its cousins in the Saxifragaceae family, this coral bell is fairly drought tolerant taking full to part sun, and preferring rich, humusy, acidic soil.
‘Marmalade’ grows to a height of 30 cm (12 in.) and will easily fill in a 0.5-m (1 ½-ft.) area. After a few seasons, it can be gently lifted and divided – early spring is the best time. Heucheras are generally grown for texture and foliage, but in late summer ‘Marmalade’ offers a delicate bloom atop its leaves.
The plant retains its leaves in zone 6 or greater and can survive a zone-4 winter.
