Day 10. Rain—no, pouring rain greets us as we crawl out of tents this morning to pack up and head west. The rain is a surprise, as the sky was clear the night before, and those who had left clothes and shoes to dry were disappointed to find that they would have to pack wet gear.

We arrived in Prince George late this afternoon on our way to Soda Creek. It is here that we learn of the devastating returns of the Fraser River sockeye—approximately 1/10 of the estimated 13 million salmon have returned. How do millions of salmon disappear?
