Q: How should I winterize Morden roses?

Winterizing roses all depends on the climate you live in. Morden roses are bred for extreme cold, so if you live in zones 3–7 they should be fine without any special care.

Most of the colder zones will have some snow cover. But if you are in a cold zone and are unsure of snow cover, it always helps to “hill” up your rose before winter sets in. I have found that a light mix of soil and bark makes an ideal winter mulch. You can also use straight bark or soil.

Roses in colder climates should also be planted much deeper to give them great natural winter protection.
