Once in a lifetime do Talking Heads fans get a treat like this. This DVD captures live performances from all aspects of the bands career beginning with their earliest work from the mid-70s (including Psycho Killer and I’m Not in Love); their later hits (Burning Down the House and Take Me to the River) as well as their reunion performance of Life During Wartime from their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This also comes with audio commentary from the band members; a South Bank Show from 1979; a David Byrne interview from 1978 and a 48 page book with tons of photos and more. (Eagle Rock)

What begins as a calm pre-wedding brunch quickly collapses into another night of mind-erasing debauchery involving monkeys, drugs and a famous cameo appearance or two in this hard-R comedy that pulls no punches. After a stranger (Daniel Craig) wanders into the Old West town of Absolution with a strange contraption shackled to his wrist and no idea who he is, he becomes only the second most unusual thing to happen lately. As an alien army begins an attack from the skies the stranger is forced to join forces with the locals (including Harrison Ford as a crusty colonel named Dolarhyde) to fight them off in director Jon Favreau’s blockbuster action film. SPECIAL FEATURES include an extended version of the film (with 15 minutes of footage); almost 90 minutes of “conversations” between Favreau and his cast as well as executive producers Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg; as well as cutting-edge digital links for even more features and insight into the film. Based on the book by Kathryn Stockett, Emma Stone stars as Skeeter Phelan, a young college graduate growing up in 1960s Jackson, Mississippi who begins quietly interviewing the African-American housekeepers and nannies about their relationships with their white employers. The outcome of which begins to crack the long-standing racial barrier of their segregated lives. (Disney)
Back in 1965, a group of Mossad agents were assigned the task of bringing in a Nazi war criminal known as the Surgeon of Birkenau. Flash forward to present day when a man claiming to be the Nazi surfaces in Eastern Europe which opens up a series of long-buried secrets. Helen Mirren and Tom Wilkenson star in this spy thriller from director John Madden (Shakespeare in Love). (Universal)
When staid businessman Mr. Popper (Jim Carrey) finds himself the guardian of a group of Emperor penguins after an eccentric relative leaves them to him, it begins to change his outlook on life in this family comedy from director Mark Waters (The Spiderwick Chronicles; Freaky Friday). (Fox)
Poppy Montgomery (who stars in the new TV series Unforgettable) plays J.K. Rowling, the British authour of the Harry Potter books in this fictionalized (shot in Vancouver) account of her struggle from poverty as a single mother to becoming one of the richest women in the world. (Alliance)
Nathan West and Ashley Johnson star in this fictional romantic drama set against the true-life Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925 (with Brian Dennehy and Fred Dalton Thomas as Clarence Darrow and Williams Jennings Bryant). For a more accurate film adaptation of that case, track down one of the film versions of Inherit the Wind. (Anchor Bay)
Kristy Swanson (the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer) plays Martha, a young mother whose husband leaves her and her children alone and desperate. Even after moving to a small town and finding a job at a rural diner (famous for its home-made root beer), it looks like it will be a dismal Christmas after all. That is until the good will of her new town rallies behind the young family in this heart-warming holiday drama. (eOne)
Who doesn’t love the combination of dogs and Christmas? Apparently everyone must love them because there are a glut of these on the video store shelves and this is another one. Jennie Garth (90210) plays an unemployed museum curator and single mother who is fixed up with a local winery owner (Brad Rowe) by their dogs (voiced by Jay Mohr and Nikki Cox). (Alliance)

Before he became known as Gomez Addams on the original Addams Family TV series, John Astin teamed up with Marty Ingels for this short-lived by fondly-remembered sitcom about two handymen named Dickens and Fenster. While they tried their best to make a living, their ineptness often provided the majority of laughs alongside a Who’s Who of great guest stars like Harvey Korman (The Carol Burnett Show); Sally Kellerman; Yvonne Craig (TV’s Batgirl) and Jim Nabors to name a few. By this season – the final one for Burke and Smart – Anthony (Meshach Taylor) has become a full partner in the company, but the quality of the show hasn’t wavered.
