Nira Arora’s Fall Beauty and Clothing Essentials

Virgin Radio's Nira Arora shares her fashion and makeup must-haves to help you transition into the colder months

Here are my personal fashion and makeup must-haves to help you transition into the colder months

Steve Madden

Over-the-knee boots, $150

Rightfully named ‘Gorgeous,’ these are my must-have boots of the season. I loved them from the moment I saw them, but to be honest I was a bit skeptical… Would I be able to pull them off (literally and figuratively)? And the answer is yes to both!

There are many ways to wear these boots. Ilove wearing them with leather leggings, jeggings, an oversized sweater, or a mini skirt with opaque black tights. Edgy, casual, dressy—these boots check all the boxes.

NYX Suede Liquid Lipstick, $9.99

Are you looking to make a statement this fall? Do it with NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick. The colours are vibrant and opaque, and the best part is they don’t run. They glide on smooth and then dry without feathering or smearing. A major upside to this product is that it’s super affordable, but there’s a downside: they sell out quickly, so look for them now! I grab mine at London Drugs and my favourite colour is sandstorm (pictured right).

Ilia Tinted Moisturizer, $55

I’m in love with the JLo glow! Jennifer Lopez’s skin always looks healthy and that should be the goal: healthy skin is beautiful skin. How can you achieve that glow while protecting your skin at the same time? I found Ilia Sheer Vivid Tinted Moisturizer (with SPF). It has just the right amount of tint and its texture is ideal underneath blush and bronzer. It provides coverage on your face to help diminish any imperfections, but it doesn’t feel heavy like a foundation. One of my reasons for going with Ilia is their mission to provide the healthiest product possible for your skin—and I’m into that! I end up grabbing my Ilia products from Kiss and Makeup.

MAC Diwali Light Festival Eye Shadow X 9, $42

Diwali is one of my favourite times of year. It’s known as the Festival of Lights—the victory of good over evil—and a time for families to celebrate their Indian heritage.

A trademark of any Indian celebration is the vibrant colours and now MAC has made it a little easier for everyone to celebrate with their limited edition MAC Diwali Light Festival Eyeshadow palette. It makes me proud to know that a part of my culture is influencing beauty trends and being embraced by other cultures as well. Plus, these colours are perfect for fall: rich, bright and neutral all at the same time.

Lululemon Align Pant II, $98

Every time fall hits, it’s as though an internal clock inside me knows that it’s time to find a new pair of tights. I’m addicted to tights and their versatility. My pair for fall 2016 are the Align Pant II from Lululemon. You can dress them up or down. I wear them to work in the morning with an oversized tank, bomber jacket and sneakers, then straight to a lunch date with a friend, off to Zumba at Steve Nash and finally to pick the kids up from school. One outfit, four separate locations—it doesn’t get easier than that. Plus, the pants have stretch/shape retention and they’re so lightweight you’ll actually forget you’re wearing them. The bonus? There’s a hidden pocket in the waistband!

Saje AromaOm Diffuser, $89.95

Being comfy and cozy is what I crave in this weather and you can create that essence in your home with a Saje nebulizer. The Saje AromaOm ultrasonic diffuser releases negative ions to cleanse and purify the air while also releasing beneficial essential oils into your home—I’m sold! It also has a really sophisticated look to it.

What’s your mood? Do you need a pick-me-up in the morning? Try the essential oil ‘refresh’.  Need to take a few deep breaths when you get home from work? ‘Unload’ is my favourite (and it works on the kids too when they get home from school). As you ease into bedtime, ‘tranquillity’ helps you forget all your daily stresses.

Crush Clothing Oversized Sweater, $55

Fall is the perfect season to layer up and an oversized sweater is an easy staple for layering. Pair it with leggings, boots, a blanket scarf and a leather jacket—done! My favourite oversized sweater this season is by Freeloader and you cn grab it from an amazing local boutique called Crush Clothing in South Surrey at Grandview Corners shopping centre. The exposed zipper gives that extra little detail to make it stand out.
