Pot an Amaryllis

To grow in soil:
In a pot or container barely larger in circumference than the bulb itself, plant the bulb in potting soil, leaving the bulb’s “shoulders” and neck exposed above the soil level. Water well, keep soil moist until growth begins, then water regularly.

To grow in water:
Nestle the bulb on pebbles, stones, shells or marbles placed inside a glass cylinder or in a forcing jar with a large neck. Keep water to a level just beneath the bottom of the bulb but not touching it, where the roots can reach it.

Amaryllis need to be turned regularly to keep the stems upright.
