Sabores CDMX – Thursday, December 8 to Saturday, December 10

Mexico City’s hottest chefs are coming to Vancouver for three special collaborations at Homer St Cafe and Bar (Chef José Manuel Baños), Burdock & Co (Chef Mario Espinosa) and Cacao (Chef Gerardo Vázquez Lugo). Some of the restaurants will be serving part of their regular menu in addition to the Sabores CDMX tasting menu, which showcases the best high-end modern Mexican cuisine.

Something to Treasure: A Good Noise Christmas – Thursday, December 8 to Sunday, December 11

Good Noise, a 90-voice gospel choir, has performed with Barbara Streisand, David Foster, Josh Groban and Holly Cole, and will be bringing their infectious joy to Vancouver this Christmas.

Thirty local artists will be showcasing their craftsmanship, creations and designs at this annual holiday show. Pick up unique presents and meet the makers behind an eclectic range of handmade gifts. Admission fees are earmarked for Emerging Artists Scholarship to help new artists show at the 2017 event.

Abbotsford Bakers Market – Saturday, December 10

Got Craft? Holiday Edition – Saturday, December 10 & Sunday, December 11

Vancouver’s largest indie craft fair celebrates the season with a holiday edition market that features over 75 designers as well as tasty treats, music and swag bags. From handmade chocolates to vintage industrial lights, it’s the perfect place to do some holiday shopping for a one-of-a-kind gift.

Christmas Presence – December 11 to 13; 19 and 20

Every night the lineup of eclectic musicians and actors changes for an evening of music, stories, poems and readings for the holiday season, featuring the likes of Ron Reed, Carolyn Arends, The Tourist Company, Nelson Boschman, Peter La Grand, The Kwerks, Michael Hart, Garth Bowen and Zaac Pick.

Holiday Cookie Class – Wednesday, December 14

Get your holiday baking and decorating done at The Uncommon Cafe, a sustainable cafe and commissary in Railtown. Choose from shortbread, gingerbread, sugar cookies and thumbprints (or jam-jams) as your base and get creative in time for Christmas!

Radical Spirits Solstice Market – Friday, December 16 to Sunday, December 18

The Toast Collective (648 Kingsway) hosts a holiday market with a difference—all the handicrafts are made by local witchy artists and craftspeople, with the aim of shining the light on lesser-known crafters this solstice. And 75 per cent of the profits go directly back to the artists/crafters, so you get to support emerging artists.

Mary Poppins – Now until January 1

A Spoonful of Sugar and some Chim Chim Cher-ee make Mary Poppins a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious play that is practically perfect in every way. Enjoy watching Mary Poppins fly over the rooftops of London in this family-friendly musical.

Layers of Influence: Unfolding Cloth Across Cultures – Now until April 9, 2017

Take a break from holiday festivities to check out The Museum of Anthropology’s new visually spectacular and immersive exhibition, Layers of Influence. The exhibit features more than 130 majestic and diverse cultural garments—from exquisite Japanese kimonos to colourful Indian saris, draped and hung throughout MOA’s Audain Gallery—offering visitors an up close, 360-degree look at intricate stitching and complex weaving techniques.
