Anyone who thinks that fresh, delicious, local produce is only available in the summertime has never been to the Hastings Park Spring Farmers Market. Located between the PNE Forum and the Agrodome, the market will be open every Sunday until April 26. Bring down the whole family to enjoy the atmosphere and pick up baked goods, locally grown vegetables, meat, dairy and artisan crafts.

Salt Spring Island is well-known as being a retreat for artists and nature lovers alike, and now a taste of the island is coming straight to Vancouver. Salt Spring in the City is an annual event that brings artisans and food producers to Main Street’s Heritage Hall for the weekend. They’ll be selling food, clothes, wine, jewellery, pottery and much more. Entrance is just $3 for adults and $1 for kids, and part of the proceeds go to the Save-On Meats Sandwich Token Program.

Dive broomstick-first into the wizarding world with the Canadian Quidditch National Championship at Swanguard Stadium. Quidditch is a full-contact, co-ed sport based on the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. This weekend seven teams from across Canada will be competing to bring home the championship. There are no tickets necessary and it’s free to come watch this exciting one-of a kind event.

The Easter Bunny is coming early to UBC’s Wesbrook Village, so pay a visit between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to get a jump-start on your celebrations. Kids can explore Wesbrook Village by following clues in the Easter egg scavenger hunt and earning some sweet prizes. The Easter Bunny himself will be on-site for photos, and the Welcome Centre will be running a kid-friendly craft station. Best of all, the entire event is free.

Slip on your dancing shoes and head down to the Commodore to see the 26 Canadian singers who will be taking the stage. Artists like Jim Byrnes, Ali Milner, Al Harlow and many more will be belting out their favourite tunes from the Motown songbook with backing from a 12-piece band.

Vancouver’s cherry blossoms have been the focus of countless Instagram pictures over the past month, and now they’ll take centre stage at the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. This month-long festival includes various events to celebrate the cherry blossoms and the coming of spring. On April 2, the Cherry Jam concert will be held at Burrard Station with live music and performances. Make sure not to miss Sakura Illumination on April 3 where Charleson Park will be lit up with a stunning light show with cherry blossoms as the backdrop.

If you happen to catch some colourful characters wandering the streets of downtown, don’t be alarmed – it’s just Fan Expo. This year’s Fan Expo will be setting up in the Vancouver Convention Centre for three days so that fans can get dressed up like their favourite characters and check out merchandise and memorabilia from comics, movies, TV shows, manga and video games. There will also be an all-star panel of guests like Carrie Fisher from Star Wars, William Shatner from Star Trek, Sarah Wayne Callies from The Walking Dead and more.
