Vancouver International Tequila Expo – May 30

The tequila will certainly be flowing at the 4th annual Vancouver International Tequila Expo where attendees can enjoy a taste of over 25 tequila and mezcal brands at the Grand Tasting Hall taking place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Vancouver. Each ticket purchase includes 20 tasting tokens, with proceeds of all additional token purchases going towards the British Columbia Hospitality Foundation. Event sponsors La Mezcaleria, Joe Fortes, Sysco Vancouver and Mosaic Grill will be on hand serving up delicious food pairings, showcasing tequila in the best way possible.

Hawkerfest presented by Flook – May 30

Hawker Fest is back and is bigger, better and more delicious than ever before. Showcasing the very best of Vancouver’s artisan community, over 50 local food businesses, artisans, art collectives and food trucks will be front and centre. The evening will also include a screening of The Life Aquatic, and if that’s not enough to peak your interest, thanks to location-based browsing app Flook, for the first time ever entrance to the event is free. Simply register online, download the app and you’re all set to enjoy what will be an electric night.

Friends for Life Enchanted Garden – May 30

Prepare for a night of twinkling lights and magic at the Friends for Life Enchanted Garden Gala. The gala is being held in honour of the 20th anniversary of Friend for Life, a charity that raises money for people with life-threatening illnesses. Held on Coast Plaza Hotel’s stunning rooftop terrace secret garden, this summer night themed cocktail party will have live entertainment, interactive displays and an elegance that can’t be matched.

European Festival – May 30 and 31

Head on a Euro vacation without suffering through the long flight at this 18th annual European Festival. Countries from Spain to Slovakia will be flying their flags proudly and sharing their culture with the city. From authentic ethnic clothes to traditional dances, like Spanish Flamenco, to special activities, this festival will be as educational as it as it fun. Of course, the festival wouldn’t be complete without serving up a wonderful menu of delicious European dishes and beers. You can even pick up a souvenir from your adventures from the Arts Plaza, where artists and artisans will be selling authentic wares.

Adulting 101/The Price is Wrong – May 31

If you’re still trying to learn the ropes of this whole “adult” thing then take note, because this may be one of those times when a glass of wine holds the answer. Vancouver Urban Winery is teaming up with Mogo to host a night of wine tasting and financial advice. Adulting 101/The Price is Wrong combines fun and finances with a talk from financial expert Chantel Chapmen, and wine selections from sommelier David Stansfield.

Brewery Brunchies at Dogwood Brewing – May 31

Start the morning right at Dogwood Brewing’s Brewery Brunchies with a specially crafted beer-Mimosa or beer-Caesar and tasty brunch. You can choose from one of three dishes that are all served with eggs, bacon and hashbrowns: Huevos Rancheros, a Holly-Dogwood Bowl or a plate of Beer-jacks.

Tofino Food and Wine Festival – June 5 to 7

Escape to one of the most beautiful places B.C. has to offer for a festival that will make your mouth water. The Tofino Food and Wine Festival is an annual event that honours Tofino’s fresh local ingredients and culinary talent. While the popular Grazing the Garden event is sold out, there are still tickets to the Cocktail Show, The Sunset BBQ and more.

Bard on the Beach – June 4 to September 26

Bard on the Beach is a summer tradition that has been enthralling Vancouverites for 26 years. This season begins on June 4 with previews for a steampunk version of A Comedy of Errors (although the opening night isn’t officially until June 13). Other plays you can catch  include King Lear, Love’s Labour Lost, and an original play, Shakespeare’s Rebel.

Light the Night: Stand Up Paddleboard and Kayak Tours – June 5 to September 6

Even if you’ve lived in Vancouver for your entire life, Vancouver Water Adventures is giving you the chance to see the city from a whole new perspective. On Friday and Saturday nights, Light the Night’s stand up paddleboard and kayak tours will be setting out from Granville Island. The tour is an hour-and-a-half long, offers breathtaking views of the sunset and includes a night-time paddle complete with bright lights to guide you.
