Who knows better what moms need than moms themselves? BCLiving enlisted the help of local mommies to reveal their favourite Vancouver baby products. From clothing to bath products to slippers, here are some fabulous Vancouver-made mom-approved baby brands.

Von Bon

The brilliant minds behind this Vancouver-based eco-friendly company are sisters Jennifer and Kristin. Von Bon goods are made from certified organic cotton, and only use water-based ink, making them safe for you and your little ones (and a happier environment). Their line includes a variety of products – from baby blankets to infinity cowls for adults.

Padraig

The first pair of Padraig slippers were made back in the winter of 1977 by a North Van mom for her young son. The warm slippers were hand-crocheted in wool and had a sheepskin sole. Padraig slippers are still handmade in North Vancouver with the same love and care today. They have a sheepskin sole and leather bottoms to keep you – they have adult sizes too – and your baby’s feet nice and toasty.

Dimpleskins

Dimpleskins is a 100 per cent natural baby care line created by mother, Jen. She started Dimpleskins when was a new mom and realized that all the products she had for her newborn included harsh chemicals in their ingredients. Dimpleskins is made right here in the Lower Mainland and only uses organic and pure ingredients in its products. The most popular product has to be the Bum Bum Balm, a 100 per cent natural and zinc-free diaper cream.

Why Knot Mom

Why Knot Mom is a local company run by two North Vancouver moms, Ashlee and Andrea. They create handmade baby items like soother straps, change pad covers, crochet hats and even doll carriers. These handmade goodies are created with the utmost care and detail. Why Knot Mom products are only available online through the the brand’s Facebook and Etsy shops.

Coco & Tini

Coco & Tini was created by a Vancouver dad when he and his wife became concerned about the ingredients in their son’s baby products. So he went about creating a 100 per cent natural hair care and bath line for babies and kids. Coco & Tini’s products don’t contain any of the ingredients you might find in other big-brand products, such as sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, parabens, propylene glycol and artificial preservatives or fragrances. Coco & Tini carries bubble baths, shampoos, conditioners, and are meant to be fun for both the little ones and their parents.

This adorable Vancouver-based kids clothing line from two Vancouver moms is inspired by fashion from Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo. Redfish Kids’s philosophy is: “courage to express individuality, courage to live with a strong confident voice, courage to experience life with gusto!” The clothing line includes everything from baby kimono onesies to pea coats for the older little ones. All Redfish Kids products are made in Vancouver with hand-picked materials from around the world.

Taslie is a natural and organic baby skincare line by Langley mom, Tami. Tami saw a need for chemical-free baby products that were also fun, so she created her own line. The product line includes the fabulous smelling L’enfant Lemon Creme Conditioner and the Cheeky Bum Wash. Taslie products are hypoallergenic and come in recyclable and biodegradable packaging.

Made Just For You By Lisa

Made Just For You By Lisa is a Langely-based online shop by mother of four, Lisa. The shop features quality handmade items for moms and babies, such as wet bags, teething pads, burp cloths and more. The most popular items are the snack bags, which are lined with certified food-safe PUL (polyurethane laminate). The bags are also machine-washable and dryer safe, making them easy to clean. There are over 40 fun prints to choose from and Lisa also accepts custom orders.

Founded by a mother-daughter team from Maple Ridge, the duo really shows their passion and love for sewing in their high quality products. Po Po’s (grandma in Cantonese) is a line of children’s ponchos by Vancouver mom, Sharon. All of Po Po’s Ponchos are machine-washable, dryer friendly, have snaps for armholes and don’t contain any zippers (no more ouches).
