Tofino

Pack up your surfboard and head to Canada’s surf capital. People from all corners of the world are drawn to Tofino’s raw, rugged, natural beauty, but it’s the surfing that originally put it on the worldwide radar. Home to 35 km of “surfable” beach break, with swells reaching anywhere from one to eight metres high, surfing is a religion here.

Squamish

Named by the New York Times as one of the 52 Places to Go in 2015, the Sea to Sky Gondola offers a front row seat to the Stawamus Chief’s spectacular vistas — previously only available to experienced climbers. And if the kids aren’t entirely on board with hiking, all of you can capture the beautiful surroundings from the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge.

Victoria

One of the favourite tourist attractions in our province’s capital city is Fisherman’s Wharf. Tucked around the corner from the Inner Harbour, this marine destination features shops, kiosks and boats selling fresh seafood. Have a wander along the boardwalk and experience the funky neighbourhood made up of colourful houseboats. The Wharf is also a hub for kayaking, whale watching tours and restaurants showcasing delicious seafood and Mexican cuisine, making this a hot spot for families of all ages.

Okanagan

The region’s reputation for vine-covered slopes, award-winning wines and panoramic landscape is one that draws people from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The Okanagan is a patchwork of endless vineyards, orchards and gnarly trees, with more than 150 wineries. Wine tours coupled with cuisine inspired by the vino will make for a noteworthy road trip.

Sunshine Coast

A quick ferry ride from Vancouver, the breathtaking scenery that the Sunshine Coast boasts is reason alone to visit this beautiful region. Take your 2016 Honda Pilot down the Sunshine Coast Highway, where you’ll discover the seaside village of Gibsons. Renowned for being home to Molly’s Reach from the popular Canadian sitcom Beachcombers (1972-1990), downtown Gibsons is a great place to wander around with its funky shops, bakeries and restaurants.

Harrison Lake

The largest lake in the southern Coast Mountains, Harrison Lake is south of the resort community of Harrison Hot Springs. Each season, the lake offers a plethora of activities and events, including boating, fishing or relaxing on its sandy white beach. Of course, no visit is complete without enjoying a dip in its mineral rich hot springs.
