Ever thought about the carbon footprint of your glass of Shiraz? Okanagan wine producer Painted Turtle has – and now it is looking to lighten its load. Using PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) – a plastic resin – instead of the traditional glass, Painted Turtle has reduced the travelling weight by 80 per cent of two wines in its stock. The bottles may look and feel just like the real thing, but that Cabernet Shiraz or Semillon Chardonnay uses a lot less fuel to make it onto your table.
