The Top Less Gay Love Tekno Party band leader shares his top picks for local food and drink.
My favourite spots for day-time hangout is Solder & Sons bookshop and coffee shop on Main and Cordova. [It’s] little known outside the neighbourhood, but a great local spot for people in this area to get coffee and catch up. I like it because it’s small, cheap and it has without a doubt the best orange juice in the city (fresh squeezed in front of you). You honestly have to try it to believe me. Also, the proprietor is rad.
For drinks I head to Alibi Room quite a bit because it’s a block from my house, and they have an amazing drinks list. The crowd is very mellow and douchebag-free. I also like the staff a lot. I go for brunch there on weekends; the food is amazing for a local [spot].
Other watering holes include Six Acres in Gastown, The Narrow on Main and Section 3 in Yaletown—because my buddy Cheeky Disco spins there on some weekend nights.
Also, the Vancouver Art Gallery rooftop is seriously the best place in the city to have a drink in the summer.

TLGLTP shows are famously sweaty, combining pop-happy beats, non-stop dance, outlandish costumes, spandex and copious amounts of silly string. Here’s a primer…
