We're showcasing Vancouver's best restaurants and special menu items—and why they should be your next meal
Restaurant: Fanny Bay Oyster Bar
Location: 762 Cambie Street, Vancouver
The Dish: The new fall menu
The Details: If you’re looking to experience all the fall feels (and tastes), escape the rain and cold this season at one of Vancouver’s coziest little culinary gems. Known for its authentic tide-to-table offerings and fresh, sustainable seafood from the Pacific Northwest, Fanny Bay’s new menu is inspired by fond memories of family dinners and the warm flavours of fall. I love pairing the best of what B.C. and the West Coast has to offer from land and sea and creating harmonious dishes that speak to that philosophy, says executive chef Tommy Shorthouse.
The new menu highlights include Scallop and Pork Belly accompanied by butternut squash purée and five-spice apple chutney; a hearty Seafood Pot Pie featuring a medley of seafood, mushroom and brandy enrobed in puff pastry (really, the ultimate comfort food); Sablefish and hot soba with mushrooms and savoy cabbage (you must order this!), and Sakura Pork Piccata paired with sautéed mushrooms. Guests can end their night on a sweet note by indulging in desserts such as Dark Chocolate Brandy Tart and a Pumpkin Brûlée with toasted pumpkin seed shortbread.
Open for dine-in service and takeout from 3 to 10 p.m. daily. Happy hour service runs from 3 to 6 p.m. daily.
