There’s already buzz of an Oscar nomination for little Quvenzhani Wallis who stars as Hushpuppy, a six-year-old girl living in Louisiana Bayou country with her single father. When he gets sick, the little girl heads out alone to find her mother.
In this Disney fantasy, a couple (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton) struggle to conceive a child and write about their perfect child on pieces of paper and put them in a box which they bury in the backyard. During a storm, a young boy named Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up at the door claiming to be their child along with some unusual physical characteristics. (Disney)
A cast of familiar faces (including Jennifer Garner, Modern Family‘s Ty Burrell, Rob Corddry and Hugh Jackman) populate this political satire set among the townsfolk of a small Iowa town with a serious butter-carving contest.
Unfortunately, this isn’t a film about composer Danny Elfman but instead a Christmas comedy about an elf (Jackass‘s Wee-Man Jason Acuna) who is left behind by Santa to help a family celebrate the holiday. Instead, the children help him discover his inner powers to become a superhero called Elf-Man. (Anchor Bay)
Two sisters (Vanessa Williams and Terri J. Vaughn) who have nothing in common except their shared love of sweets decide to open a bakery together in this feel-good film.
In this remake of the cult slasher classic (which is being re-released along with its sequel today) a small town sheriff (Malcolm McDowell) and his deputy (Jamie King) hunt down a serial killer dressed like Santa Claus who is killing off the local citizens. (Anchor Bay)
In the latest in this family-friendly film franchise, the Bannister family and their dog Zeus (voiced by Joey Lawrence) have moved to California and end up with a mischievous new puppy. Feeling like he isn’t needed anymore, Zeus runs away and witnesses those inept burglars (Dean Cain and Gary Valentine) from the other movies breaking into his family’s home. (Anchor Bay)
RE-RELEASED CLASSICS
Frank Sinatra plays an assassin that arrives in a small town and takes a family hostage as he awaits the arrival of his intended target – the President of the U.S. in this gritty film noir. Sterling Hayden is the town’s sheriff who is determined to stop him in this 1954 film, which has been restored for this blu-ray release from the original master print. (Image)
The classic slasher film from 1984 (which has been loosely remade this year) gets re-released just in time for Christmas along with its 1987 sequel on this 2-disc set. The first film tells the story of a teenager who was abused in an orphanage dresses as Santa and goes on a killing spree. The second film follows this first killer’s brother as he now avenges (spoiler alert) the death of his brother at the end of the first film. (Anchor Bay)
Leonardo DiCaprio stars in this Steven Spielberg film based on the actual events of the life of Frank Abagnale, who impersonated a number of people, including an airline pilot, a doctor and a lawyer. Tom Hanks plays the dogged FBI agent determined to stop him.

It’s been a year since Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) has left his life as La Flama Blanca in Mexico behind. Now, he’s in Myrtle Beach, N.C. where he’s trying to get yet another new start on his life, this time playing ball for the Myrtle Beach Mermen and adjusting to life as a new father. Jason Sudeikis (Hall Pass) joins the cast as Shane, a veteran pitcher on the team. This 2-disc set contains all 8 episodes.
Mike Connors’ tough-guy private eye Joe Mannix is back for this eighth and final season (which was never part of any syndication package and has not aired since its 1974- 1975 season) with this 6-disc set featuring the final 24 episodes of this series which features guest appearances from such stars as Tom Selleck, Erik Estrada, Bill Bixby, John Ritter and many others. Just when you think they couldn’t wring anything more out of this maritime tragedy, along comes this new 12-part series chronicling the financing and building of the world’s largest unsinkable ocean liner. Neve Campbell (Party of Five) and Chris Noth (The Good Wife) co-star in this epic series from the creative team behind Camelot and The Tudors. All episodes are on this 3-disc (also available in blu-ray) set.
