A traditional West Coast summer isn’t complete without a trip (or two) to The Fair at the PNE

We’ve put together a list of Fair “Fan Favourites” and spotlighted this year’s must-see exhibits and shows! The Fair kicks off August 20th and runs through Labour Day, September 5th. (closed Monday, August 22 and 29) Gates open daily at 11:00 a.m until late (weather permitting).

Playland’s Wooden Roller Coaster

Topping the fan favourite list is Playland’s famous Wooden Roller Coaster. For nearly 60 years, the iconic ride has thrilled both the young and the young at heart. Reaching speeds of up to 72 kph, and with plenty of twists and turns, it’s easy to understand why this roller coaster is a must-ride every year.

PNE Prize Home

One of The Fair’s most anticipated attractions is the PNE Prize Home. Valued at over $1.4 million, this year’s lottery home is 3,200 sq. ft. and boasts two levels of pure luxury. The stunning home will be relocated to the Okanagan’s Naramata Benchlands, and the lucky winner will enjoy a home most of us can only dream of owning!

The President’s Choice SuperDogs

Forget the boys from One Direction. The President’s Choice SuperDogs return with their own canine band, Three Directions! Who wouldn’t want to watch these incredibly adorable and athletic pooches fetch, jump and dance to timeless rock n’ roll tunes? No wonder these “top dogs” are a favourite act year after year!

Food at The Fair

From delicious treats to savoury eats, the deliciously creative food at The Fair draws an audience of its own. Grab a napkin and enjoy mouth-watering offerings such as bacon candy floss, mac ‘n’ cheese stuffed burgers, mini-donut ice pops and deep-fried tequila shot bites.

Craft Beer Fest

Wash down all that food with a local cold brew. The Craft Beer Fest features over 50 breweries from across the province, and the $10 admission includes a 4-oz collector’s cup, perfect for sampling a variety of ales, ambers and lagers sure to quench your thirst.

The Beast

Save your screams for Canada’s most extreme pendulum ride! Reaching speeds of 90 kph and more than 5G’s of force, this ride isn’t for the faint of heart. Not only will it swing riders 120 degrees in either direction, you’ll also reach heights of up to 152 feet. One of Playland’s more recent additions, The Beast has become a favourite among thrill seekers.

Alien Worlds & Androids Exhibit

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No… it’s extraterrestrials! Discover a universe far beyond our own at the Alien Worlds & Androids Exhibit. Learn about space exploration, artificial intelligence and robotics at the exhibit where science fiction meets scientific fact. You’re bound to have an “out-of-this-world” experience!

UNBELIEVABLE: A Magical Experience

You won’t believe your eyes when you witness UNBELIEVABLE: A Magical Experience held at the Pacific Coliseum. UNBELIEVABLE combines comedy and magic with spectacular grand illusions. Featuring some of the world’s most elite magicians, it’s a show fairgoers won’t want to miss!

Angry Birds Universe Exhibition

Based on the popular game, the Angry Birds Universe Exhibition explores the art and science behind the global phenomenon. Guests will flock to this interactive exhibit where they’ll be propelled by ziplines onto giant foam structures, just like the Angry Birds. Highlights include a climbing wall, oversized sling shots and a laser maze.

Summer Night Concerts

Kick back, relax under the stars and sing along with family and friends at the Summer Night Concerts. Featuring artists like Olivia Newton-John, The Steve Miller Band and Simple Plan, catching these nightly performances at 8:30 p.m. is the perfect way to end to a perfect day at The Fair.
