This is the bottom of the box of overwintered apples from the orchard. (Some days my face seems as wrinkled as these apples!) It’s amazing that they still have such good eating quality after months in a cardboard box in the garage.
I keep apples in a cardboard apple box, placed on the indented layers they are shipped in when they travel here from hundreds of miles away. Crazy when you know you can eat your own apples year round. I have just made a huge batch of apple sauce with these apples, and that’s what we’ll be eating until we pick our next fruit harvest from the orchard from July to November.
