A few products can go a long way when you're staying at home
It’s easy to fall into a beauty lull during this time of self-isolation. There are no happy hours to look forward to, no date-night dinners—for once, we’ve literally got nowhere to be. And unless you count your weekly trip to the grocery store an outing, we have no other reason to get dressed. But even during this time of uncertainty, a little bit of self-care goes a long way, especially for all those video calls which have now become our social and work life. And continuing your daily beauty routine will not only make you feel good, but add a little structure and normality to your days.
Here are five easy ways to keep to simplify your beauty routine and improve your mood…
Let’s start with the basics. Having a consistent skin care routine is essential to maintaining a healthy complexion. Whether you’re using multiple serums or just cleansing and moisturizing, these simple steps will help wake you up and give you a fresh start on the day. As you’re staying inside more, taking care of your skin is more important than ever as your skin can start to feel more irritated and dry.
Whether you’ve got a few dark circles or blemishes you’d like to cover up before your next Zoom meeting, a little concealer and a BB cream can go a long way. Using a blending sponge or brush, add a natural tint and glow to your skin with some light coverage. Make sure to use products that are packed with antioxidants and hydrating components to really boost your complexion.
We’re spending a lot of time indoors, which is unfortunately going to affect the texture and luminosity of our skin, leaving it looking a little dull. Add your favourite highlighter to your daily routine by applying a dab of product to your cheekbones to brighten and lift your features.
For days where you want a little more glam without a lot of hassle, add a few strokes of your favourite mascara and eye liner to define and lengthen your lashes. You’ll feel more awake and be ready to tackle whatever challenges you’re facing that day.
Nothing awakens your complexion more than adding a flush of pink or coral blush to the apples of your cheeks—and a cream blush has more staying power than a powder. Plus, it adds more moisture to your skin. For a healthy and natural application, squeeze a pea-sized amount onto the back of your hand and lightly dab the product with one finger directly onto the cheeks.
