The Third Season of ‘The Mandalorian’ Arrives This March

The erstwhile Baby Yoda shows off his newly acquired Jedi skills in the new season of The Mandalorian

The Force is with Grogu

While The Last of Us continues to rack up record-breaking viewership for HBO, Disney+ is debuting the third season of Pedro Pascal’s other TV show, the Star Wars-inspired The Mandalorian.

When we last saw Pascal’s titular Mandalorian, he was in the midst of rescuing Grogu (a.k.a. Baby Yoda) from the clutches of Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) when he received some unexpected assistance from no less than Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill, de-aged via CGI). Luke then revealed that little Grogu is practically bursting with the awesome power of the Force, but that all his potential without the proper guidance is meaningless, so he requested that Grogu come with him and receive the necessary training that will place him on the path to become a Jedi master.

The MandalorianDisney+As is always the case with the Star Wars franchise, details about the plot of this new season are under lock and key. However, a teaser offered some tantalizing clues indicating what viewers can expect—including a visit to the Mandalorian’s home planet and the return of Grogu, who has now achieved enough mastery of the Force that he can easily vanquish foes.

One thing we do know about season three is that Pascal wasn’t too involved in filming; because his character is almost always wearing a helmet, the heavy lifting reportedly went to his stunt doubles due to the overlapping production schedules of The Mandalorian and The Last of Us.

Like, not just as the Mandalorian, but as a human being in life. Their technology is so sophisticated they’ll just replace me with a different Pedro Pascal.”

The third season of The Mandalorian premieres Friday, March 3 on Disney+
