1. Striped Cashmere Boyfriend Sweater by Reformation, $225
This delicate cashmere sweater is ideal for transitional weather. Warm enough when there’s a chill in the air, yet lightweight enough to easily layer, taking you into winter. The white-and-black stripe pattern makes this more interesting than a solid, giving it dimension and character—but it’s still neutral enough to pair with jeans or patterned trousers. The fit is true to size, so order one or two sizes up for that oversized, effortless look. This sweater is part of Reformation’s 90/10 cashmere program, crafted from 90 percent post-industrial recycled cashmere, 10 percent virgin cashmere, adhering to the Good Cashmere Standard, reducing the carbon impact by 87 percent while also ensuring that the 10 percent virgin fibre is farmed using best animal welfare practices and without contributing to desertification of the farmlands.
2. Trail Runners SWT by Allbirds, $180
“SWT” stands for sugar, wool and trees—all source materials in this running shoe. Allbirds is known for their guiding ethos that’s grounded in sustainability and social responsibility, with their shoes famously using wool over synthetics whenever possible. They began with lifestyle and athleisure footwear, but have started to expand into athletic shoes, like these trail runners. Sure, they’re fit for trails, but they’re also a favourite among style editors because you can walk around the city all day and all night, and they look amazing with most outfits. These are comfy, cushy and the natural white pair finishes off most outfits surprisingly well. They fit a touch small, so order half a size up, especially if you have wide feet.
3. Nessah Leather Crossbody Bag by Isabel Marant, $750
This is a minimalist bag with maximum possibilities. Endless cool girl/guy vibes from Isabel Marant, this bag will top off all your autumn outfits with boundless style. The soft, durable leather has a glossy, worn-in look. It’s a deceptively simple envelope-style bag with a zipper closure on the top and a flat base for stability. Separate pockets (one external back zip, two internal) keep all your smaller things organized while the main compartment easily fits your wallet, phone, water bottle, hand sanitizer, snacks, etc. The strap is woven with logo letters and is removable and adjustable, allowing you to wear this as a crossbody, on the shoulder, or as a clutch. The rich caramel colour is the perfect seasonal neutral that goes with absolutely everything.
4. Midweight Denim Loose Straight Jeans by DUER, $149
These soft, straight-leg jeans are a gentle way to reintroduce coverage to your legs after an entire summer of bare-legged, sun-kissed fun. The loose silhouette gives your wardrobe a much needed update (bye bye, skinnies) while being a revelation in comfort. These are high-rise, so they will accentuate the waist while elongating the legs and fall loosely down to your ankles like boyfriend jeans, without the unflattering bagginess. These will be your new go-with-everything jeans. Fit is true to size.
5. Hydra Unisex Performance Poncho by Nobis, $875
Embrace the power of individual expression without sacrificing practicality. Why huddle under an umbrella when you could be making a style statement with this poncho and staying dry? This is a lightweight poncho made from a micro-denier fabric with sealed seams, finished with water repellent. It even has a laminated interior membrane for extra dryness and warmth. There’s no way you or your outfit will get wet with this on. While this could easily slip over your crossbody or even a backpack, avoid looking like a hunchback and utilize the generous front pouch pocket. And, no. You won’t look like you’re wearing a sack. With the poncho on and your arms outstretched, you’ll see that the shape of the poncho isn’t a semi-circle or a square. It’s an isosceles trapezoid: this poncho was thoughtfully designed so it drapes beautifully creating elegant fluid lines. There’s also an adjustable webbing strap at the waist of the back panel, as well as rows of snaps on either side that let you fully customize the look and feel. You can even create an asymmetrical, avant-garde look with this deceptively simple garment. While it’s available in standard black, which is always a safe bet, consider one of the other colours (we suggest chalk) to truly give this versatile piece the style spotlight it deserves (while making everyone huddled under umbrellas very, very jealous).
6. Emerald Check Retro Trouser Pant by Brixton, $120
These trousers are as comfortable as they are smart. Inspired by men’s tailoring, these are straight-leg, high-waist and have a pintuck front seam so they always look crisp and on point. But the cheeky emerald check pattern and modern tri-blend fabric make them wholly modern and easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. Pair these with classics like a T-shirt and blazer, or pattern block with a striped sweater or oversized white button-up.
7. Gender-neutral Poplin Long Shirt by RW&Co, $99
The new gender-neutral collection at RW&Co is full of classic pieces like blazers, jeans and this wardrobe-essential white cotton button-down shirt. Say goodbye to ridiculously thin, see-through material and unnecessary embellishments. Men’s clothing is simply better when it comes to fabric quality, tailoring and pockets (quantity and quality). This shirt is going to be generously sized for women, so pick your size accordingly. That said, a larger shirt is a lot more versatile, allowing you to purposely mis-match buttons for an asymmetrical fit or criss-cross the front when tucking in or simply wear as an overshirt. The options are endless for this wardrobe workhorse.
8. Swinton Patent Waterproof Boot by Cougar, $200
No one knows soggy Canadian weather like a Canadian shoe company. Cougar’s stylish footwear-of-choice this autumn updates the classic Chelsea boot with crinkle patent leather and on-trend chunky mid-level one-inch platform sole and one-and-a-half-inch heel. And they're completely waterproof, of course. The inside is lined with a thin polar plush fabric to keep your feet cozy, no matter how cold and damp the weather is. There’s no better feeling on a rainy day than knowing your boots are going to look perfect with your outfit and keep your toes dry. Fit is true to size if you wear thin socks (which is fine because of the plush lining); if you plan on wearing thick socks, level up a size.
9. Ultra Light Down Relaxed Jacket by Uniqlo, $99.90
Considering how feather-light this jacket is, it’s incredibly warm. It looks smart as an outer layer, but can be brought out from the bottom of your handbag whenever you get chilly, almost like a blanket. It’s like having that perfect cardigan that you can take everywhere and that goes with everything. For those days when mornings and evenings are chilly but middays are warm, this is the perfect light, squishable, packable layer to keep on hand. It slips over layers with ample room and has snap closures so you can bundle up or just do up that top snap when thrown over your shoulders. Fit is a touch big, but that’s the charm.
10. Belleville Hoody by Canada Goose, $450
Made from exceptionally soft and highly breathable merino wool, this mid-weight hoody pullover is the perfect layering piece. On its own or under a jacket, it will keep you warm when it’s cool and cool when it’s warm. With drop shoulders and an articulated rib-knit design, this hoody has an enhanced fit while minimizing bulk. You won’t find a usual logo-patch weighing down this delicate knit. Instead, the entire length of the right sleeve has subtle tone-on-tone raised logo lettering. Fit is true to size for a relaxed fit.
