Planning to switch to greener cleaning products? Whole Foods wants to help

Head into any one of the four Whole Foods Markets in the Lower Mainland on Friday, April 23 between 3 p.m. to 5 p.m and swap those toxic cleaning products that make you feel so guilty for an eco-friendly alternative. Every cleaning product you take into Whole Foods will be replaced with an alternative product from AspenClean or Seventh Generation. For free!

This is a great way to celebrate Earth Day and try out some great products at no risk to your pocket book.

Need more convincing?

Consider these facts:

• More than 56 percent of all toxic nonylphenols—compounds used in pesticides—are found in household bathroom cleaners and laundry products.

• Cleaning products produce 8 percent of non-vehicular volatile organic compounds (VOCs), leading to air pollution, smog formation, asthma and the inhibition of plant growth.

• If every Canadian household replaced one bottle of 1.5-L petroleum-based liquid laundry detergent with a natural product, we could save 28,000 barrels of oil.
