Sḵwálwen Botanicals – Changing the Face of Skincare
Set the mood by taking that special someone to one of Vancouver’s most romantic restaurants
Brix’s dining room – with its warm lighting, high ceilings and artistic flourishes – is stunning, and the tasty West Coast menu incorporates local ingredients to create what the restaurant calls “modern Canadian cuisine.” But it’s their year-round, glass-covered and heated courtyard that we truly adore. The fairy-tale like room, with its ethereal chandelier and dramatic vines lining the walls, glows with romance. Perhaps it’s the echo of the 350-plus weddings that have taken place there – a sure sign that its romantic reputation is deserved.
With a name that translates as “the slaughterhouse,” and a space that originally held Vancouver’s first jail, love and romance aren’t exactly in the architecture. But L’Abattoir bucks its darker past with a warm and genuine room that is imbued with a sense of comfort and familiarity. The mosaic tile floors and brick walls create an inviting atmosphere, one where you can let your hair down and focus on the mouth-watering French-influenced West Coast fare – as well as that special someone sitting across from you.
Let’s get it out of the way – that view. My word, that view. Perched above Queen Elizabeth Park, looking out over Vancouver and the North Shore peaks, Seasons provides a showcase for the majesty of the city. And with such an impressive setting, creating a night you’ll both remember is effortless. Throw in a dining room that’s equal parts sophistication and spectacle, as well as a menu that really showcases the best of West Coast cuisine (fresh daily seafood, local meats and market vegetables), and you have the ingredients for a date that shows how much you truly care.
Specializing in tantalizing desserts and sumptuous sips, Sweet Revenge offers delicious confections that will get the blood (and blood sugar) pumping to all the right places. Whether it’s a sinfully decadent chocolate pudding cake or a tiramisu that will make you wobbly in the knees, this pâtisserie delivers a bevy of oral pleasures. The decor – red walls, retro photography and furniture – evokes a burlesque atmosphere, and we love that the cosy space promotes plenty of intimacy.
