Vancouver entrepreneur Lisa Falconer keeps it in the neighbourhood.
Entrepreneur Lisa Falconer, founder of Polar Feet, lives, works and plays on and around Main Street, Vancouver.
A few years ago local entrepreneur Lisa Falconer required more space for her company, Polar Feet. Her business, producing locally made fleece socks, had simply outgrown the living room. But rather than commuting every day, Falconer insisted her office be within walking distance of home.
When she happened upon the “warehouse-style” Artech lofts, where artists, businesses and dwellers co-exist, Falconer knew she had found her space. In addition to the mixed-usage building, Falconer also fell for the location.
“I like the neighbourhood,” Falconer explains. “I live nearby, my manufacturer is around the corner, and I am within walking distance of some fabulous restaurants. I enjoy taking a break at JJ Bean or grabbing dinner after work at Burgoo Restaurant.”
Heather Lochner is a stay-at-home mother and a freelance writer. She loves combing the neighbourhoods of Vancouver to find locally owned shops and restaurants. Together with her two children, husband and dog, she lives aboard her sailboat in Vancouver. When not at work or school, the Lochners are out cruising the BC coast.
