We uncover the most picturesque and unique Airbnb stays beautiful British Columbia has to offer
Location: Ucluelet, British Columbia
The details: From $215 for one night (two-night minimum stay); sleeps two
The amenities: Surrounded by Ucluelet rainforest and situated on the traditional territory of the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ lands and peoples, this beautiful handcrafted cob home lets you escape the city and reconnect with nature. The house itself is made from a mixture of sand, clay and straw, which was shaped by hand to create unique features such as curved walls, as well as rounded shelves incorporating driftwood or up-cycled bottles and clay artwork.
Upon entering, you’ll discover the primary living space showcasing a bespoke kitchen equipped with a gas oven and a wood stove, alongside a dining table, cozy couch and delightful cork flooring. Just a short distance from the rear entrance, you’ll come across a full-sized outhouse boasting exquisite cedar rafters, skylights, a clawfoot tub with shower, a toilet, and panoramic forest views with no neighbouring structures in sight. The upper level features a spacious sleeping loft, complete with a cozy queen-sized bed, allowing you to catch a glimpse of the inlet right from your pillow. Additionally, there is a rustic wooden burl sink and a compact toilet (intended for “number ones” only).
For those who need to catch up on work or engage in a creative pursuit, there is a small workspace with a desk offering a serene view of the surrounding trees and visiting birds.
Activities in the area: Just a four-minute drive from Ucluelet, the home’s location provides easy access to a diverse array of activities and attractions, including local surf beaches, storm-watching coves, hiking trails, bike paths, and more. Although Tofino is a 30-minute drive to the north, Ucluelet boasts a plethora of entertainment options, such as restaurants, shops, whale-watching, kayak tours, surf shops, massage services, and much more.
