One of TV's most beloved casts comes together again for a touching trip down memory lane
From 1994 through 2004, Friends was one of the top shows in primetime, hitting a peak in the sitcom community that’s literally been impossible to match in the interim—since leaving the air, there hasn’t been another comedy to reach the much-vaunted spot of No. 1 Show on Television—while still maintaining enough popularity in worldwide syndication and streaming to earn Warner Bros. approximately $1 billion every single year.
As such, the demand for some sort of reboot has been high this past decade-and-a-half. Well, the time has at long last arrived, and even though it’s just a reunion special (not a movie or sequel series), Ross, Rachel, Joey, Chandler, Monica and Phoebe (a.k.a. David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow) are together again on camera—and on a reasonable facsimile of the original Friends sets, no less. Watch as they reminisce about the good ol’ days alongside a plethora of guest stars, including some famous fans (Justin Bieber, Cindy Crawford, Lady Gaga… Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harington of all people?), but more importantly, some familiar faces from the original series, like Gunther (James Michael Tyler), Janice (Maggie Wheeler), Mr. Heckles (Larry Hankin), Ross and Monica’s parents (Elliott Gould and Christina Pickles), Rachel’s sister (Reese Witherspoon, now co-starring with Aniston on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show), Monica’s most famous ex (Tom Selleck) and so on. Last but not least (OK, maybe least), the whole thing is moderated by James Corden.
If you’ve seen the trailer, then you already know the cast play Friends trivia, read through classic scripts and more. Enjoy!
