If you were too busy to plant your spring bulbs last fall, you have two options

1. Force

To fool your bulbs into thinking they’ve been through an outdoor winter, says Zaplatynsky, put them in the fridge for three months and then pot in a sunny window. This is called forcing. Move outdoors when the ground is ready.

2. Cheat

If you never get around to fall planting, you’re not alone. So many of us forget these days, that most garden centres now offer already-rooted bulbs for sale starting mid-February. Sometimes called bulb pans, they can either be left in small pots on your porch or transplanted to the garden, just as if you’d done all the work yourself.
