100% natural and toxin-free, the Tata Harper skincare line is finally available in Vancouver

It’s not often you get a mini-facial from the owner of a world-class skincare line. Most often it’s some nice rep from the brand, or a beauty expert of some sort, but rarely from the creator herself.

I sat face-to-face with Tata Harper recently while she was in West Vancouver promoting her 100% natural luxe skincare line, now available at Kiss & Makeup.

Makeup-free and with a perfect complexion, the soft-spoken Columbian-born beauty quickly assessed my skin and set to work on a multi-step facial that left my skin fresh, plumped and dare I say it, yes – dewy.

“We all try to live healthy lives, and synthetic products don’t belong in beauty products,” Harper said.

Tata Harper Skincare Four Years in the Making

Tata Harper Skincare is produced from start to finish at Julius Kingdom, her 1,200-acre organic farm and company headquarters in Vermont’s Champlain Valley. All natural and toxin-free, the line took four years to research and develop, and even comes in recyclable packaging – glass, metal and 100% post consumer paper. But don’t let the natural skincare idea make you think these products don’t involve the latest technology, research and development common to high-end brands.

The combination has quickly attracted celebeauties Gwyneth Paltrow, Christy Turlington and Julianne Moore as fans.

Extensive Product Line

The skincare line is extensive, and the products Tata used in my facial were as follows:

  • Regenerating Cleanser, $82.50: A daily-use exfoliating wash that contains apricot powder and willow bark, which is a “natural source of salicylic acid,” Harper explained. “The whole line has a very particular scent, we use tons of flowers, it’s non-stripping, and doesn’t erase the skin’s pH level,” she added.
  • Resurfacing Mask, $60: This got my glow on. Tata attributes that to the fact that “we use tons of willow bark at high concentration, pomegranate enzymes, and pink French clay, all of which digest the dead skin and bring fresh new cells to surface. We use beta hydroxy, too, which is a better way to exfoliate – the alpha hydroxys are too aggressive.”
  • Hydrating Toner, $93 for 125mL: This was applied next, followed by the Rejuvenating Serum, $165, which is all about wrinkle reduction. It includes Spanish lavender for muscle relaxing, and some 29 active ingredients.
  • Rebuilding Moisturizer, $110: Containing chamomile and sandalwood, this was applied from forehead to chest and was perfect for my oily/combination skin, leaving a matte finish.

I left the store and went into the glaring September sun without a stitch of makeup, and didn’t think twice about going into the rest of my day barefaced. Many facials leave me hiding under giant dark sunglasses and ducking into my car at lightening speed. Not this one.
