Vancouver Frock Swap a not-to-miss shopping experience

High-5, Vancouver! We are really embracing the eco-fashionable way!

This past Sunday, Once Loved Threads—helmed by Vancouver trendsetters Danielle Ow and Marjolyn Ustaris—hosted yet another successful Frock Swap. The turnout was incredible. Like last time, there was a great variety of items awaiting the eager crowd.

The event was scheduled to begin at noon. I showed up about 15 minutes beforehand, and there were already a good 40–50 people in front of me. Apparently some die-hards started lining up at 10:30! The line just kept on growing. Here’s a video showing just how popular the event was:

Things pretty much kicked into high gear right away. Everyone was so focused and enthusiastic—I love it. It was shoulder-to-shoulder the whole time I was there (apologies to those of you I accidentally elbowed!). I didn’t have too much luck at first: kept seeing cool things in the hands of other quicker, more keen-eyed swappers!

Frock Swap finds

But perseverance paid off in the end. Among my new finds are a classic black pencil skirt by Ann Taylor. A white shirt with subtle, asymmetrical details from H&M. These two pieces (pictured top left) are great because, separately or together, they can provide a solid, versatile base from which to build lots of combinations.

I also picked up a colourful silk dress (Le Chateau; pictured bottom left) which I plan to wear to a wedding reception this weekend, but I can also dress it down with leggings and flats for more casual outings.

Then there’s a Sinequanone cocktail dress with an asymmetrical ruffle trim (pictured bottom right).

And finally, possibly my favourite, a beautiful glass bead pendant (pictured top right). It originally came with a longer black hemp cord, which didn’t really do it for me, but I knew it would work with a silver chain that I already have.

Thanks for another rewarding experience, Danielle and Marjolyn! Looking forward to the next one in March!

Can’t wait that long? Host your own! We’ve done it before and it’s pretty easy and loads of fun!
