The best time to move roses

Q: When is a good time to move roses? Is November too late?

Moving roses is always best done during the dormant season. In coastal B.C. we can move a rose anytime from October to March.

The plant should always be pruned back hard since roses come out of the ground with a limited bare-root-type structure. The pruned plant willl then have time to make new roots that will match the next season’s top growth. As long as the ground isn’t frozen solid you can dig and move the rose!
